I was scheduled for a renal ultrasound for 2:30pm. My doctor had faxed orders for the ultrasound and a KUB. X-rays aren't scheduled, they are "walk in". The representative on the phone told me to come at 2 and they could do the KUB first, then my ultrasound. I checked in at 2 (had filled all paperwork online, ahead of time) and the receptionist said x-rays were running and hour and a half so I might want to do that on another day. I said what day would I need to have it done by for the Dr. to get the results by the 14th. She said I come on the 12th. (Today is the 9th)
I hadn't been called back by 2:47 so I went up to ask why it was taking so long, I was so uncomfortable and was afraid I'd have an accident. They said I should be next. Two people later a technician comes out and calls my name and asks if I have my orders. I said no, they were faxed. She said she can't find them. I said I spoke with two representatives of Simon Med this week and they were able to find the orders. I told her I had been there since 2pm and had a very full bladder, how much longer will it be. She told me I could go to the bathroom and release some of the urine and there would still be enough for the ultrasound. I did that. At 3:10 she called me up to ask what Dr. had made the order, I told her and she said she called the wrong office. She said if I could just wait a little longer, she would try to get the orders. I said I didn't understand what the problem was, why she couldn't get the orders since two different people were able to find both orders AND I had the appointment time. She said she didn't know and she would bring it up with her supervisor. I told her I can't wait any longer and left.
That is really inexcusable treatment. To require you to drink 32 oz. of water an hour prior to your appt. and then make you wait over an hour and a half and still no guarantee when you can have the ultrasound. I have had good experiences at this Simon Med location before, maybe this is just a one off time but it was very frustrating and wasted my afternoon.
