Bottom line up front: The contractor we hired to renovate our retirement home is in default of contract, and does not appear to be making suitable progress - FOUR months after the scheduled completion date. Attempts to work with him one on one have failed. Last September (2019) we interviewed (4) contractors, to conduct some much needed renovations to our home. We conducted research (checked with the Revdex.com, TN) and decided to sign a contract with Simpkins Construction Company on 5 Sep 2019. The scheduled completion date was set for ~ 17 Oct 2019 - approximately six weeks after the contract was signed. Despite repeated attempts to work with the contractor (see attached copies of the contract and my 23 Dec 2019 certified letter - with return receipt), Mr. Simpkins appears to find every excuse plausible, not to complete this project. Additionally, during our 10 - 14 Feb '20 on-site visit, we discovered: 1. The interior work that was supposed to be completed by 10 Feb '20 WASN'T EVEN close to being completed. 2. A model remote controlled aircraft I had purchased (new and left in the box) had been stolen. I explained to Mr. Simpkins once again, the stress and strain he is placing on my family, due to having to maintain two mortgage payments (on our property in Jefferson City, TN and our current home in San Antonio, TX). I need the work on our retirement home to be completed (as promised) so I can sell our property in Texas, and retire to Jefferson City as planned last year. The final incident resulting in my Revdex.com complaint occurred earlier this week. I had been texting Mr. Simpkins every day (Mon - Sat) to obtain updates on how many people were on site each day, and what were they doing. Throughout this week, Mr. Simpkins informed me he had his crews (2 people) on site performing work. My neighbor informed me she hasn't seen anyone on site all week.
