WORK DONE: Replaced roof and tied roof into existing porch structure. Replaced porch railings and posts, enclosed interior porch roof, added ramp and replaced front steps.
RESULTS: While the overall work was mostly well done, and the porch is much more functional, the finish and detail work, second-rate lumber and timeline left a great deal to be desired. The project took nearly three months, with many delays, errors, re-do's, corrections and replacements. The wooden posts, lumber, and shingles were left exposed to the elements for days and weeks. The posts were filthy and mildewed in areas when they were installed.
FINAL REVIEW: At a final inspection requested by us, Mr. Singleton agreed that one of the porch posts base was split due to the way a handrail was attached. Two weeks later he bluntly refused to replace the post, stating how little money he had made on this project. He added insult to injury when he referred to our home as having gone from Section 8 housing to a mansion because of his renovations.
CUSTOMER COMMENT: As we prepare the porch for painting, the poor quality of the wood is evident. The wood splinters and splits in the areas requiring sanding. Screw tips stick out of the rails and have to be cut off. Most of the rails and some of the posts require a great deal of wood putty to repair splits and cracks. We absolutely feel that given the amount of money spent, we should not be having to do all this additional work.
WE WILL NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
