and quality of all vehicle fluids and note any issues on the work order so we can bring it to the attention of our customers. Nothing was noted for the Saturn. Additionally, our dispensers for oil are specific to oil and anti-freeze are specific to anti-freeze based on size, shape and color and are kept in the confines of the respective fluid containers making this mistake nearly impossible.
In September of this year the customer contacted us and brought her concern to our attention. Because the vehicle had been driven approx 7000 miles, serviced by another shop or shops, including the oil, struts and shocks, since the time we saw it in March, our techs were unable to review or confirm that the issue existed, nor verify that the fluid was oil, nor confirm a potential cause such as a cracked head or head gasket.
The 3 techs we employ have a combined 68 years of automotive repair experience and I know, without a doubt, they did not add oil to the coolant overflow reservoir.

As previously stated there were only 2 shops involved and only Sipes had changed the oil before the contaminated
coolant was discovered. There has never been a question
of the number of years of experience the Sipes mechanics
have between them but that does not eliminate the possibility
of human error.

It is an unfortunate situation but we cannot accept responsibility. As stated previously,we have specific containers and dispensers for each and every product to ensure no human error occurs.
We stake our reputation on quality work and honesty so if a mistake is made our staff would have addressed it immediately to remedy it.
The customer drove 8000 miles and had two verifiable visits to other shops during the window between our service and this notification at which time this problem could have occurred.
The customer did not notify us of the problem until after having the work done so we were unable to assess the issue, nor given the opportunity to discuss her concerns.
