*** *** first brought the car to our repair shop on 8/31/due to a friend of the customer trying to install his own new alternator but failedOld alternator was laying on top of power steering rack when it arrivedThe brackets and parts were all laying under the hoodwe found the
pretensioner adjuster missing but it was not needed to tighten the beltMost cars do not even have this option anywaysThe alternator belt was missing upon arrival and we had to remove the power steering belt to install owners alternator and new beltWe recharged the dead battery and road tested the car and the problem was found to be solved.Customer called from home in Fort Atkinson, WI and said he was having problems with the alternator. We advised the owner if the belt was bad we would warranty it as long as he had the old belt and did not hear back from him after that.Customer had the car towed in once again on 12/17/and stated he had other people look at alternator again, we found the battery dead again and the alternator belt to be missing once again and the power steering belt was taking offIt appeared as though someone else was trying to work on the carThe car sat on our lot for weeks while we were unable to get ahold of Ian, and we did not charge him the $a day storage fees as usualThe customer then called and advised us to just replace the belts and we gave him a $discount to help calm the issueWhen car was finished the customer did not have the funds to pay so a relative paid for the car repairs for him.Customer called again with belt issues and was more than miles away from our facility so we told him any repairs we had repaired were under our Confident Plus warranty over miles away including towingCustomer had it towed to another shop and they again gave him estimates on front suspension and steering repairs and advised the car was not safe to driveThey did not fix the belt issue.Unfortunately we are unable to warranty the alternator as it was not purchased through usWe do not feel as though we owe a refund due to the fact that the part was not purchased through us and that we did everything we could do to make the car run the way it was supposed to with the parts given to usAll parts were installed correctly and triple checked before leaving.Rick Sippl and Team
