Sir John's Contracting & Minor Home Improvements Reviews (29)

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have this afternoon, read the lengthy response that "sir [redacted]'s contracting" sent to you. Sure is a lot of mis-quotes stated in his response. He goes on & on about the job workmanship. I have never had a problem with the work that was completed on our OFFICE, not our entire home that he leads on that he completed. The problem stems from his spiraling down attitude and demanding cash only payment for his work, is he reporting it to the [redacted]???? His price, he came up with was his own decision, pressuring me to agree with before he left my office on March 17, 2015. He kept coming down on the price himself, only to pressure me into accepting his contract price. My spouse and myself are seniors and yes, the office could use some paint updating and some stucco repair on the atrium, which is part of the home, not the office. This 8' x 8' atrium was stucco repaired and painted inside and out, except for the home wall inside of this atrium which has a very large Anderson window 5' x 6', which did not get masked off. I had to remove the paint spray and clean the window after there employees finished their work and was gone from the property. He states in his letter to your office that we mentally abused him?????? have no idea what he is writing about. My spouse and I was heading into some serious surgery and would not be able to do all of the painting as fast as his crew did. I never had a problem with the work itself that "Sir [redacted]'s" completed, check the [redacted] complaint application, copy will be faxed to you along with a copy of the contract he wrote on the 17 of March 2015. The main problem is his license was in some sort of "VOLUNTARY CANCELLATION" on Feb 19, 2015 and did not inform me about this. If I'm not mistaken, writing contracts for this work and the price is some sort of felony. He was also doing work at other homes in this area by his own admission and when he doesn't get the contract after his presentation, he calls these non signing people is and other choice names blurted out in my office. He also stated that he had checked out our home several times about the small cracks in our stucco. Was he stalking our home? He had his two sons with him most of the time. Such an attitude to teach these young apprentices. I should have known better than to take an offer without checking with [redacted]. Really came down to serious high pressure and just was not going to take NO for an answer. The telephone call he made to me lor about 15 minutes, was on May 17, 2015 at 9:36 p.m. Arizona time, not 8 P.M. as he listed in his answer. All he wanted was for me to call the [redacted]s and call off the complaint. With no active [redacted] license? The reason for the delay in the filing, I was given the wrong address to mail the [redacted] complaint about his inactive license when he made such an issue about that he had no complaints with either the Revdex.com or the [redacted]. He demanded that he be paid with cash only. Five $20's and the rest in $100 bills. HE WOULDN'T ACCEPT MY COMPANY CHECK NOR A CASHIERS CHECK FOR PAYMENT. The doors he refers to are part of the office building and are normally covered in structure painting. He had to buy the [redacted] paint at his expense? come on the doors , again, are part of the total building, and he carefully left this out of his contract, only to be used as leverage for additional money. He also refused to sign the contract or give me his federal identification number About the sign, I don't recall any time frame for the sign, Also, I never removed the sign from the property, and I have no idea where it was, if at all left here. I will fax copies of, the [redacted] f[redacted]t mailing envelope, e-mail to Revdex.com on May 20, 2015, [redacted] complaint list at the Revdex.com, copy of [redacted] filed complaint, copy of Sir [redacted]s Contracting contract, copy of cashiers check issued by [redacted] for the cash needed to pay [redacted], owner, copy of cashiers check made out to me for cash payment to Sir [redacted]'s for office painting that he refused to sign after receiving full cash payment, and copy of my bank statement showing the withdrawal on March 20, 2015.Regards,[redacted]

I have been talking back & forth the past few weeks with you folks at the Revdex.com of Arizona I was told to put my feelings and thoughts in email by the Revdex.com I really don't know where to start when it comes to Mr[redacted] because I don't understand what his problem is other than he has buyers remorse...

his job is letter perfect I have been in this line of work for over 30 years true you can not make an omelet without breaking a few eggs Mr. [redacted] work was completed about 2 and half months ago long before completion of the job he and his wife argued during the duration of the job. He had insisted me to paint his doors & frames which were NOT part of the contract because the product I was using was strictly for stucco ONLY. So as good business rule of thumb I bit my tongue and said customer is always right and went to [redacted] Paints at my cost & time and bought proper acrylic for both the doors & frames if I had any shote intentions and didn't care about the customer or my reputation I would have done his doors & frames with the Elastomeric which some non-caring contractors would have done since they were already in the experience of the job which would have only lasted 70 days until the doors & frames would have peeled. It seemed Mr[redacted] was very angry at the completion of the job when payment was due yet very happy with the look of the job. It seems I should have never got involved with these individuals all I have seen them do is lie and scheme. When you paint someone's home there is a lot of taping and masking involved and due to the climate of Az on the older homes light bulbs or frames sometimes will break when masked and Mr. [redacted] had broke and he was aware of it so after the job I informed him that I would would get him a new one it was only a 10$ dollar item. He also promised me in the beginning of the job when we f[redacted]t negotiated when the price was originally 3,925$ if I would do it for 3,500$ that he would advertise for me and recommend my name to and he also promised me that I could leave a business yard sign for three weeks as part of the "chewed down" deal. When I was finished with the job that day around 5pm and was mentally exhausted of Mr[redacted]'s abuse and mood swings I p[redacted]eeded to get him a light bulb fixture the next day to replace the one that broke as promised I rang the doorbell to give it to Mr. [redacted]son but his wife answered the door she said "Mr[redacted] is not home and he is very upset with you" and I replied "why?" And she said "I really don't know and I am sorry for his behavior he has been holding it against me because I wanted to improve the house and I really like it [redacted]" and that is when I noticed that my yard sign had been removed and Mrs[redacted] admitted that Mr. [redacted]son had removed and done away with it out of anger. I have been at this profession for over 30 years I do not have unsatisfied customers only happy customers. I'm 10 years A+ accredited in the state of New Mexico 15 years licensed in New Mexico zero complaints there as well as zero complaints in the state of Arizona pretty good batting average I would say. Everything was okay with Mr[redacted] till about a month or so after the job he decided one day to look me up @ the [redacted] and at the time there was a glitch in the system that stated that I had voluntarily gave up my license which the [redacted] resolved the error for me and Mr. [redacted]son figured he could use it as some kind of leverage. Karina I could go on & on about the things Mr[redacted] has done but that will not resolve anything I had a conversation with him around May,15 or 16 around 8pm in the evening it seems that I had caught him off guard he amited to me that the house and job looked good and that he was just upset about a few minor things such as broke planted and a little bit of paint on his garbage can (which is really the city's garbage can) so we ended there with me saying "think about what would make you happy and I will reimbursed you for the 3 small plants and I will get back with you in a day or two" and he replied "fine" yet he did not admit to me that he has filed a complaint with the [redacted] or The Revdex.com nor did he mention none of the nasty blackmail things that he had said behind my back to the Revdex.com or [redacted] and when I tried to re contact him the following days he would just quickly hang phone up so I don't know what is really behind all this I am not a mind reader. Below I will attach a cope of the letter I had sent to Mr[redacted] after him hanging up on me multiple times in around the 16 or 17 of May. I can not kiss any more behind for Mr.Impossible if you could which I was informed by that Revdex.com that you'd be able to talk to Mr[redacted] by phone or letter preferably phone and speak on my behalf to see if we could resolve this some way "$" maybe we could have a three way conversation. Thank you for your time KarinaSincerely,[redacted]

I had work done prior with sir johns and was very very pleased with the the job so I had them back to install gutters on the one side of my home in September of 2015 and once again was very impressed with the workman ship quilty and service of the job they always do me a top quilty job and I would have them again

Eight years ago I hired Sir John's to paint the exterior of my home. They did a fantastic job and it held up very well. So I hired them again to paint the exterior and do minor repairs because our home has settled. Again they did a fantastic job and John was on the site at least twice a day to walk around my home with me to see if I had any concerns. He was eager to do a top notch job and that's what I got.! Call me Happy

Sir John's painted the exterior of my home in Mesa, AZ, and also the surrounding wall in the back. The price was very good. The workers were very careful and very neat. No spills or mess. I was very pleased with the job that was done. I would not hesitate to use them again should the need arise.

I had my house painted by sir john in nov. 2012 . His crew did an excellent job. I was pleased with all the prep work done before the painting. The job was done in two days. They used [redacted] paint and did a super job. I would recommend them to my friends. [redacted]

John did an excellent job painting my home.

painting of my father's house was done professionally on time and completely neat. all material used in painting was completely removed and house was left without any trash anywhere. Contractor checked on progress frequently during the work being performed, and did a complete walk around with owner prior to accepting payment. One very small defect noticed was immediately resolved. very pleased with results

SIR JOHNS (John McMillan) did work and put up gutters around my house here in Mesa and did a great job and he also came back to check and see if everything was okay after the rain. I would have them work on my house anytime I needed painting, or anything else. I am so happy with my gutters/

My grandma [redacted] had services done in 2012 and was very pleased by the job well done, she used there services again 8/2015 and again was very pleased. John and his son are very courteous, thorough and do a great job.

This company painted our home this past week and did an excellent job. They first power washed the house and then next day filled in areas, sealed joints, painted house and completed trimming, This was all done in an efficient and timely manner. The two young men completing all these tasks were very polite and business like. They did an excellent job. The "boss" came by on a regular basis during the day to check on the progress and reviewed with the two young men any additional jobs to complete or any follow up on the painting. We would highly recommend this company if you are wanting to have your home painted.

We had our popcorn ceilings repainted and two rooms completely painted. His workers were courteous and moved the furniture and put things back as they were. Everything was cleaned up as we expected.

We had our house painted and John and his son did a great job. They came back to check for any spots that needed re-touching. We were very pleased and will use them again when we need work done on the house.
Thank you, John!

Review: CONTRACTOR USING [redacted] LICENSE NUMBER THAT IS NOT VALID, LISTED ON BUSINESS ADVERTISEMENT CARD, AND REFUSED TO SIGN THE CONTRACT WHEN THE WORK WAS PAID FOR . WOULD ONLY ACCEPT CASH PAYMENT, NO PERSONAL OR BUSINESS CHECKS, CASHIERS CHECK OR CHARGE CARD AFTER WORK WAS COMPLETED.

VERY HIGH PRESSURE TO COMPLETE ON THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO CHECK HIM OUT, OR HIS COMPANY AT THE [redacted]..

WANTED EXTRA CASH TO PAINT EXTERIOR DOORS WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACTED WORK, THEN FINALLY INCLUDED THE DOORS. SAID HE HAD TO PAY HIS HELP EXTRA.

OVER SPRAY ON MANY ITEMS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROTECTED. DOORS WERE ONLY PAINTED WHEN AT CLOSED POSITION, LEAVING EDGE OF DOOR FRONTS UNPAINTED, SHOWING WHEN DOORS ARE OPENED, ALSO DIDN'T REMOVE ANY OF THE DOOR HARDWARE OR SEAL TRIM TO DO PAINTING.Desired Settlement: REFUND THE $3500 CASH I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY HIM, LESS THE COST OF PAINT PURCHASED AT HOME DEPOT (2 FIVE GALLON "[redacted] PAINT" CONTAINERS) FOR THE MASONY WALLS AND (1 GALLON) [redacted], FOR THE DOORS, BASED ONLY ON HIS RECEIPTS FOR THE PRODUCT AMOUNT USED ON THIS JOB SIGHT.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

We had our popcorn ceilings repainted and two rooms completely painted. His workers were courteous and moved the furniture and put things back as they were. Everything was cleaned up as we expected.
