I have had Sisterlocks for seven years. My consultant was moving away so I wanted to take the $200 re-tightening class that would show me how to tighten my own hair and allow me to purchase the tool needed to do it. I was 16 and usually you have to be 18 to take the class so the consultant asked Sisterlocks for permission. They said yes but my parent would need to sign the paperwork taking responsibility for me complying with the Sisterlocks rules, copyright, etc.

I paid the money to my certified consultant and tok the class a little less than a year ago. My hair tool broke and I called in to order a replacement. Sisterlocks refused to sell the tool because my parents name and not my own was on the receipt, even though those were the instructions that had been given to us. My parents cant buy the tool either because it was a class to re-tighten your own hair and my parents don't have Sisterlocks) They emailed our consultant to see who had taken the class and she looked at the receipt and emailed my parents name back to Sisterlocks. I called her and asked her about it and when she remembered who I was she remembered the whole situation and emailed Sisterlocks and told them I was the one who had taken the class, not my parents.

Instead of resolving the situation, Sisterlocks has called myself, my parents, and the consultant liars. They have said to take the class again in September at my own expense AGAIN, and then I can order the tool.

That is unethical and fraud and a breach of contract. This is not about the money. My sweet consultant has offered to do the class again for me at no charge in Sept when I turn 18 at no charge. This is about a big company bullying people who have no other way to get the tool they need than through their company.

I have a receipt for my class, my consultant emails, and all the emails between my parents, myself ,and the Sisterlocks company.

In response to the complaint filed by ***, the client was denied the purchase of Sisterlocks Tools because of

the following:

1) Our tools are only sold to authorized users, and 2) We do not train or sell tools to minors because they can not be

legally held responsible for infractions in the representation of our brand. Finally, 3) The person who gave them mis-

information and to whom they (improperly) paid for training a minor has been advised of the appropriate policies and

procedures.

The attached document shows that the mother, ***, took the class and signed the agreement. The consultant

who taught *** told our representative Michelle B, that she taught the mother *** because the daughter

couldn't do her own hair, at the time.

The consultant, Regan B, has agreed to provide the training to Victoria, free of charge, when she

turns 18 in September 2019. This can happen as early as her 18th birthday in September 2019.

Sistalocks.com is a business that allows potential hair clients to select from their pool of certified hair consultants to install the Sista Locks into clients hair.

I did my research on the sista locks via sistalocks.com and viewed a lot of Youtube videos. I decided to have them installed by a certified consultant who is on the sistalock website as a certified installer, and her name is Akila *** (please visit that site). I paid her $25.00 due at the time of consultation and I was told that was not refundable. At my consultation on Thursday, September 20, 2018, I thought I was pleased with Ms. consultation and decided to schedule the appointments needed to install my sista lock style. I was told by Ms. in order for me to keep those scheduled appointment I needed put down a $100.00 deposit to keep those appointments. I was not told at the time I would not get a refund if I later decided to cancel those appointment. The next day on Friday,September 21, 2018, after my consultation I had my friend Karen take the $100 to Ms. because I had to work and she only gave me the next day after my consulation to give her the $100 deposit. Ms. gave my friend the receipt and wrote "No Refund" on the generic receipt. I didn't request the receipt right away from my friend since I would see her at a later date.

On Saturday, October 13, 2018, I decided I was not going to get the sista lock permenant hair style and I texted Ms. and informed her of my decision She texted me back and wrote that on my receipt it was written "No Refunds"

I want my money back since she did not verbally tell me at my hair consultation. Ms. conveniently wrote it on the receipt that she gave my friend.

To Whom it May Concern:RE: Complaint ID#: ***Sisterlocks is a parent company that does not oversee, manage or restrict the amounts charged for hair care services by the individuals who have gone through our training program. Nor do we receive any financial benefit from any of their services. Pricing issues need to be resolved between the client and the service provider. However, we do provide guidelines that encourage Sisterlocks Consultants to engage in fair business practices. In my opinion, Ms. should have been informed by Ms. that the appointment reservation fee was non-refundable. In cases like these we generally contact the Consultant and unofficially coach them on pricing transparency and other ways to avoid such conflicts in the future. If the client chooses to take legal action against the Consultant - say, through small claims court - we can provide her with a memo explaining our guidelines, however, we have no specific written policy on non-refundable deposits.Dr. JoAnne COwner, Sisterlocks

I received what I thought was Sisterlocks in my hair late 2017 from a Sisterlocks Trainee. Her information was listed on the Sisterlocks website (as of today, this trainee is no longer listed on the page).

By December of 2017, and with review by another trainee, it was realized that the trainee who originally installed my Sisterlocks installed them with many errors, that would need correcting.

Based on the complain protocol listed on the Sisterlocks website, I completed their form and also included pictures as evidentiary support for my complaint. Sisterlocks has a person who handles complaints - Ms. Michelle.

She contacted me and also the trainee. Based on my information, information from the other trainee who reviewed my hair and her conversation with the trainee who installed my Sisterlocks, it was evident that the initial trainee did not see what was wrong with what she did with my hair. Based on my conversation with Ms. Michelle, she informed me that the initial trainee's information would be removed from the Sisterlocks approved website. She also mentioned that she was going to do a write up of her investigation and forward it to Dr. *** (creator of Sisterlocks) for further review.

Ms. Michell recommended that I go to small claims court to seek the money I invested in my initial Sisterlocks installation. I am more than prepared to do this: I have a witness to the incident as well as the information I submitted to the Sisterlocks organization.

What I am asking for that I know will help in support of my small claims filing, is a copy of the reporting Ms. Michell from Sisterlocks has completed and information regarding the conversation she had with Dr. ***. If a trainee that was originally listed on their site is no longer on the page, then clearly that trainee was not in compliance -- something Sisterlocks asks of anyone who files a complaint.

I have been dealing with this issue since 2017. I just want the information I've requested.
