I have contacted the Homeowner in this complaint and explained to her it is not our companyShe understands and stated she will be contacting you to rectify this matterI will also follow up Linda/ Office Manager

To Whom It May Concern,History:Original work was performed in September 2014. Payment was due day of completion and was rec'd.SJ Waterproofing returned to the home and made some repairs to one of the corners that were originally sealed. Homeowner was reminded that the
downspouts from the gutter needed to be addressed as that was causing the issue with the newly sealed walls. (Remaining three corners were sealed and not having any issues. Sealant work is not guaranteed as there are factors that a homeowner needs to maintain for the sealants to work effectively.) Homeowner was not charged for the subsequent work.Complaint filed with the Revdex.com:SJ Waterproofing returned to the home and the following was completed:Approx -ft of walls (corner) where there was peeling and discoloring were repairedAny loose sealant was scraped off, applied an acrylic to entire area to help sealant adhereThen applied a heavy coat of sealant to entire areaProblem is being caused by home owners downspouts which are improperly draining so at no charge the problem was temporarily corrected for the homeowner until the homeowner gets them permanently repaired. Thank you.SJ Waterproofing***

I am rejecting this response because: This is in reference to the Notice & Order of Penalty I received in the mailIt states: NJAC 5:23-Requires that a permit be obtained prior to performing workWall reinforcement in basement. However they also altered the waterproofing that was previously existing, leaving it open to water leaking in during rain. The letter states a $ fine will be due & for each week it is not corrected
I was told that having the steel installed would not affect my waterproofing system.I paid dollars to have it put in.Why would Iagree to anything that would jeopardize that. And it was working just fine.January of the steel was installed, everything was fine.I also had a waterheater installedSince I was out of work for a bit I made apptFor inspection on 4/Afew days before it was pouring rain that was when I knew I had been duped.Luckily the building inspector saw the water & could see where it was coming from also.He even took picturesWhen I got the letter about the fine I left a message with SJ waterproofing telling them about the fine .That was on 4/On 5/I got a call from Anthony ( the employee who did the work ) .He told me he would go get the permit on 5/2.He also gave me Lou's phone #, he was the employee who initially came out to see the water problem. He also told me they would fix the breach in the waterproofing system. That was probably weeks ago.Now I have texted him twice this week.He now ignores my textsI would not pay for all of this griefI thought this was an upstanding Company, boy was I wrong. One last thing I wanted to comment.on was the resolution they proposedRemoving the steel beam Anthony installedReally! I am no contracter , but it seems to me that this would do more harm tomy basement wall. The building inspector said it may not help the crack in my wall anyway because the had no one inspect it to see if it was being done correctly. However I spoke to the building inspector Wednesday afternoon, I will not be the one paying the fineThank You
Regards,

Hello,   This customer contacted us originally for a...

waterproofing estimate.  We provided one along with the steel.  She used another company to do the waterproofing work and called us at a later date to do the steel.  She mentioned at the time that she was still getting water and the other company wasn't returning to address the problem.   The company that did the waterproofing work used a "gutter-type" system in the basement and is therefore laying on the floor in the area of where the steel needs to be placed. We offered to come back and remove the steel and give her, her money back.  It was $500.00.   There was no warranty offered.  The customer had a budget and we worked within that budget.  We also offered to make a repair so that the drain system would continue to work. However, according to her, the company that did the "gutter-system" ultimately did return and said that as long as the steel was there, the warranty for their system was voided. Not sure why she didn't have them handle the steel with the waterproofing.  We've given her two options.  Thank you.

Review: I contracted to have my basement waterproofed in September 2014. The walls did not dry and the sealant applied began to blister and flake. The walls were recoated once in some spots and still are not dry and continue to blister and flake. I requested an appointment with the person that I contracted the job with. He is not available and I have only been able to deal with the nephew who did the work. At this time I am having a difficult time getting someone to look at what has happened to these walls.Desired Settlement: If this company is not willing to stand by their work and not willing to send the owner out to review the situation then my payment should be refunded so I can pursue other options. Please note their advertisement states dry basement guarantee and all work owner supervised.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,

Had a nasty crack in my basement wall that was situated in a real tight area - near my water heater and adjacent to my heating system that was permitting water to enter. Needy a contortionist to get at. Anthony from SJ Waterproofing called a day prior to the scheduled repair to verify his job, arrived on time and did an outstanding job in repairing and waterproofing the crack. Left nothing to clean or pick up after either. Highly recommend this business.

Review: In August, 2012, I hired SJ Waterproofing to remediate a mold/mildew issue in my crawlspace. I also had them install new crawlspace vents. At the time, the company responded to calls and the work was done promptly. I have had issues with the vents working properly (they are automatic) since they were installed. The company did respond when I first called on this issue. Again, everyone was prompt and polite.

I continue to have a problem with the vents working properly. I have attempted numerous times over the past month or so, to call the company, leaving messages on two of their numbers. A couple of weeks ago, I sent two emails, asking them to call me, so that I could get some warranty information on the product they installed. I have not received any responses to any of the messages I have left.

I am very uncomfortable having to reach out to the Revdex.com, but am not sure what else to do. I will feel bad if the business is experiencing some personal issues that has prevented them from correspondence or operation. After first calling the Revdex.com, however, it appears that there is no documentation that the company is out of business or has suspended operation.

I am really just looking for a way to speak with someone. Again, I do not want any issues. Just looking for a way to contact them.Desired Settlement: I would like either a phone or email response to my request to speak with someone. I just want to request that the materials be inspected and, if need be, repaired or replaced. When I noticed that SJ Waterproofing was affiliated with the Revdex.com, I thought this might be a way to contact them. I have never had to register a complaint with Revdex.com prior to this, and again I am very uncomfortable doing so. I don't want to cause any trouble for the company and hope that the Revdex.com can just aid in them contacting me.

Thank you for your help.
