I have worked with Robert & Lisa and their experienced team at Skill Set Remodeling on 4 full remodel projects and 1 kitchen remodel within the last year and they cotinue to meet and exceed my expectations! They have the highest of integrity and follow through with what they say they are going to do. I understand that construction has a very fluid nature about it, and that with multiple jobs going on they are being pulled in many directions. However, even with various scheduling logistics to manage and the hiccups that are an expected part of the remodeling process, they continue to work hard at getting the job done to completion within a defined timeframe and at a very fair and reasonable price. I will continue to hire Skill Set for my additional remodeling jobs, large and small!

Homeowners BEWARE of this company. We hired Skill Set Remodeling to complete a full addition and remodel beginning in May 2018. No contract was provided as to when work would be completed; just a verbal agreement it would be complete by end of August. We were provided an estimate for $100,000 at the beginning of the project and later found out their license was only for projects up to $50,000. The "general contractor" Robert G was never onsite.
The job was abandoned three months in (July) with more than 50% of the project left to finish. Unfortunately we had paid them $65,000 at this point and only $40,000 in work had been completed. We waiting around another 90 days for them (It is October now) to get caught up while losing $9,000 in hard money costs since this was an investment project. We finally severed the relationship and cut our losses as we were could not wait any longer for them to complete the work and follow through. They still owe us 30 can lights, a water heater and $2000.
Additionally, most of the work completed was not done correctly. We are now left with a home with framing problems, a roof that does not meet city code that is leaking in multiple areas causing drywall to be damaged and as we finish plumbing and electrical I am sure that we will find more issues left by this horrible contractor. We have had multiple roof professionals come out to try to fix the roof and none of them want to touch it unless we completely replace it because they don't want their warranty on another contractor's terrible work.
If you care about the quality of the work done on your home, your money and your time - I advise any homeowner to stay far away from Skill Set Contracting.

Skill Set Remodeling Response • May 08, 2019

In response to this complaint we have been completely cleared by the ROC on this matter. Never work with investors who can’t afford to flip homes. Belinda had multiple unlicensed contractors on this job and tried to pin their shoddy workmanship on Skill Set. There never was an issue until they ran out of money and could not afford to finish the project. We still have a perfect record with every agency that governs us and are relieved that they were able to see through the scammers these investors were. If anyone reads this needs more information I have filed a copy of all paperwork with the Revdex.com and the registrar of contractors has this as public record

I want to share a negative experience I had after hiring Skill Set Inc., (Dba; Skill Set Remodeling, Skill Set AZ) Contractor Robert *** G-Estrada ROC. I hired Robert /Skill Set Remodeling and paid them over 50% of a $30,000 home remodel in Phoenix, AZ., paid them another $5k midway and the final payment before they finished the bad work ( retouching all paint, fixing badly installed pocket doors, and for CORRECTING a bad / incompetent plumbing job which resulted in all my hot/. cold water valves being messed up and backwards. This was a terrible experience/home Remodeling project beginning with day one when the Skill Sets ‘‘movers” broke my writing desk legs off, tree away my curtains and a good desk in a huge dumpster, neglected to put up a protective barrier wall which I paid fir as part of our contracted work - with my furniture under a patio left in the dust and 110 degree heat. Next the house was left unlocked all night ( as we were in a hotel during remodel) windows cracked open, food left out, Pepsi spilled in my NEW cabinets. Contractor on site very rarely with undocumented workers and no supervision. Actual remodel work mostly substandard. Pocket doors installed are rubbing against wall and stitching doors and rubbing paint off each time open/closed. House paint outside peeling after 3 months. Indoor paint in master bath looks like primer only and streaking. Baseboards looks uneven paint, knicked cabinets. Most all of my furniture is knocked and/or ruined. They left a BEW vanity console outside in sunlight 110 degrees without a plastic cover and with rain on the fur cast. I took s picture and sent it to them. One guy working alone on floors for 6 weeks while we paid to stay in a hotel - our house is only 1,100 sq ft so this could have been done in st least half the time. The plunking is ALL hooked up backwards and we have hot water flushing our toilets resulting in tripling our gas bill! They avoided correcting this issue because we had at least three ‘trouble shooters’ guess that the problem is in the wall plumbing and would cost about $2,000 to correct - they already tried simple solutions like switching hot/ cold hook-ups. Hone Advisors Resolutions Department is working with me to get this resolved ASAP. This whole review is BUYER BEWARE!!! Unless this issue is CORRECTED COMPLETLY in a timely manner then Skill Set will be reported to the Registrar of Contractors and dropped from Hone Advisir network.
