Skip's Appliance Service

Repairman asked for payment upfront for services and we paid him $240 to fix dishwasher. He never fixed the dishwasher and cashed the check.We contacted Skip's Appliance, [redacted] formerly West Boylston St., and East Mountain St. to look at our dishwasher. He repaired our washer and dryer a year or two ago. He came up and said we needed a new control panel for the KitchenAide dishwasher, he asked for the money up front this time, $240 for parts and labor, since he did work for us before (we did not pay him up front before) my husband trusted him and on Sept. 3, 2014, he gave him a check made out to [redacted] Sept. 12 (approx.) he came back and said he ordered the wrong part he would order the correct part. We have been calling him since Sept. 12 and never heard from him again. He cashed our check a few days later, I called the bank, he and his wife [redacted] signed the check and the cashed the check at at check cashing agency, not a bank. We decided to stop calling him and contact you. We feel very bad because we trusted him. He knows my husband lost his job and money is tight, we also feel very foolish to have given him the money up front, but we trusted him because of the work he did last year (and/or the year before). $240 is a lot of money to us and our dishwasher still does not work.Desired SettlementWe feel very bad we trusted this man and all he had to do was call us and tell us he could not get the part, he had the flu, anything, but to ignore us makes us feel very bad. We would like our money back to we can have our dishwasher fixed.
