A representative from Northstar showed up at my door, representing himself as a Brinks employee. He had an invoice from Brinks with all of our information about our alarm service. He said that they were newly represented by Honeywell and that they were doing a refresh of our equipment. He knew my wife's name and even our code word with Brinks so I didn't doubt who he was. I asked him what this would cost and he said it wouldn't cost anything and our bill would remain the same. A couple of days later an installer showed up to do the installation. The installer had my wife's previous name the one she had when she installed the alarm. I told him we had already updated our name with Brinks. He said that through the transfer they must have gotten old records. I also told him that we had recently had a false alarm involving a bug bomb that set off the fire alarm. I asked him why Brinks didn't call us before calling the fire department. He said he would make sure the contact information was updated. After he in-installed our system and installed theirs, he started talking about the monthly fee and taking over the previous contract from Brinks. This is the first clue I had that something was wrong with their story. He said it was illegal for them to notify Brinks but that if I signed my wife's previous name on a piece of paper he handed me that they would send out the cancellation. He also said that the monthly bill would be around $50. I told him that the other person that came out said there would be no increase in price and that we were only paying $31 a month. He called the other person and told him that. He said their records showed that we were paying in the high $40's. I explained to him that my wife had called nd negotiated a lower price in exchange for a longer contract. At this point they un-installed their system and left without re-installing the previous system.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I am money out of pocket. Brinks is going to re-install a new system and I will be paying for that. Brinks has been very good about the whole thing but it's still going to cost me extra money and they won't be out to install for a month. I asked Northstar to cover my costs and they refused. It's not just about the money, I want them held accountable for their actions. If they have records from Brinks it's not just my records. They have undoubtedly been doing this and will continue to do this until someone stops them. The installer told me that Xavier, the person who made the first contact, used to work with Brinks. Xavier told me that himself when he first showed up at my door. He was the person that initially sold the system to my my wife. I'm not sure what can be done about this but they have to be stopped.

Customer was fully aware that they were switching companies. The customer failed to inform us that they had renewed their contract for a lower rate with their previous company until we were almost finished with the install. Having been informed of this we proceeded to take our equipment down and we are not allowed to touch other companies equipment because we do not have the proper codes to re-install their equipment and get it back online with their previous company. This customer's contract with us was terminated. We feel it is not our obligation to cover any reinstall fees their previous company charged them based on the fact that they failed to inform us of the renewal of their contract.

More lies!
I was never told I was switching companies. I figured it out when I was told they would be buying out the old contract. These people trade in lies and deceptive practices. The person that first approached me had an invoice from Brinks and said they were upgrading the equipment. I'm done with this, these people are criminals.
