Skyline Roofing and Construction Reviews (2)

Review: On 8/7/13 we had tornado damage to our roof. One of the sales reps from Skyline ([redacted]) came to our home and spoke with me about the roof damage on 8/9/13. He offered to refund $500 from the work once completed to cover half of the cost of my deductible as an incentive to hire the company to do the work. I signed a proposal on 8/9/13 which states we would get a $500 allowance written up as a sign allowance for allowing them to put 2 signs in our yard.

The insurance adjuster came to my home on 8/13/13 and [redacted] met him at my home with me and it was determined that the roof would cost me $10,681.60. The breakdown is $9770.40 for the roof and needed parts and $911.20 for the gutters and down spout. At that point [redacted] told me that the adjuster uses the same software program as the company to get the pricing.

The work was completed the week of 8/19/13 and the check from the lien holder was cut on 9/5/13. The week of 9/16/13 I had several conversations with [redacted] regarding my refund of $500 and at first was told that I didn't qualify because of the deductible and the work was done with the $500 figured in as a discount. After several conversations with [redacted] explaining that the amount Skyline was paid was exactly what the adjuster and quoted and [redacted] did say that the adjuster uses the same pricing software. On 9/27/13 [redacted] left me a voice mail telling me that I would be receiving a Check made out to Me for $500 (I still have the voice mail). I spoke with [redacted] again on 10/2/13 to find out when the check would arrive and was told he would see if the office sent it out and I should have it by the end of the week. I called [redacted] again on 10/15/13 to see what was going on with the check. He told me the owners father was in the hospital and he had been with him the last few days. He told me he would get back to me and never has. I sent [redacted] a text on 10/25/13 which I also still have asking when I would get the check. Their was no call or follow up by Skyline or [redacted].Desired Settlement: I was told 45 days ago that I would be getting a refund of $500 from the company and I have yet to receive it. Their has been no follow-up by the company to refund the money I am owed. I would like this issue resolved once and for all and just get the $500 back that I am entitled to and was told that I would be getting.

Response:

Revdex.com,

This is an issue that I was not aware of. My salesperson ([redacted]) never informed me of owing money to an homeowner. I read through the paperwork and the homeowner is right. I will be issuing a check in the amount of $500 tomorrow 11/13/2013.

Thank You,

[redacted]-President Skyline Roofing and Construction

Horrible work, horrible experience. My experience with Skyline Roofing, Greenville, Wisconsin, was very unpleasant, and I would not recommend the company to anyone. Crews had to spend several days (during a six-week period) making repairs to the unprofessional work they did on my roof. 1.) Hundreds of nails were driven through the decorative soffit of my 1920s Arts and Crafts house, because the site foreman didn’t tell his workers they needed to use shorter nails on the decking and shingles. 2.) The step flashing around dormers was installed incorrectly (nailed flush to the siding rather than inserted underneath it) and in a way that would have caused thousands of dollars’ worth of water damage over the next few years. 3.) For about a month, the owner of the company, the job foreman, and the site foreman were each saying different things about the incorrectly installed flashing, with the site foreman lying to the owner and lying to me directly. 4.) The repairs recommended at first (nailing cedar “trim” over the incorrectly installed flashing) would not have solved the problem but made it worse. 5. If I had been an ordinary homeowner, rather than someone who’s had experience in building, none of these mistakes would have been corrected. The company would simply have cashed my check and left.
