house because of the complaint I made to the Revdex.com and to the Contractors board.  During the process of repairing my roof, he told me that he had never seen a roof like mine fail, and had contacted the distributor of the material.  The next day he did some patching on the roof, and told me that the distributor told him that in the central valley, because of the high heat, he should have put four coats of material on my roof, and he had only put two coats on it.  Now he feels that his responsibility is over because he has patched the area that failed.  I however, feel that if the distributor says that four coats were required originally, he should add the necessary two more coats to the complete section of the roof.  On the inside of my house, the damage to the wall inside of the heater closet has been repaired to my satisfaction.  However, the damage to the ceiling in my hallway, and to the floor there has not been completed.  Mr [redacted] feels that the material that is there, and that was soaked during the storm, has dried and is now off of his plate because he has repaired the part of the roof that was compromised.  I think that the company should take care of the damage that is visible because it was caused by the failure of the roof.I am 71 years old.  I put the new roof on the house when I bought it so that I could live here comfortably for the rest of my life, anticipating that the roof would last that long.  Now I am faced with a winter that is predicted to be a bad one, rain wise, and I have no idea whether my roof will withstand the onslaught.  I went into this contract in good faith, and I believe that if I were a man or married, Mr [redacted] would do what he needs to do and be done with it.  I suggest that someone from your bureau come and look at my roof, and the repairs to the damage inside the house and see if I am being unreasonable.  If so, then I will cease my complaint against Skylines Roofing.  But as things stand right now, I am not satisfied with the result of my complaint.

Review: I employed Skylines Roofing to install a new roof on my house in June of 2010. The house consists of two portions, a peaked roof, which was rebuilt and re shingled, and a flat portion, which had two layers of a product called snow something or other.During the winter this season, I noticed a large pool of water on the floor of my hallway. I called Skylines Roofing to see what could be done, and my call was not returned. I have called each month since then to no avail. This month, when I called and left a message with the answering service, I told the operator that I was going to call the Revdex.com if I didn't hear from them.Within two days, I received a call from Skylines Roofing. The gentleman I spoke with then proceeded to tell me there was no warranty on my roof past the first year. He told me that I was crazy to assume that anyone would warranty my roof past the first year. He did not offer to come out and look at the roof, or to try to work out any kind of repair with me.I called another roofing company, and they came out to look at my roof. They advised me that the State of California guarantees a roof for 10 years. They offered to fix my roof for me, as the flat portion of my roof material is pulling away from the edges and appears to be failing. There appears to be a spot on the roof where a pipe comes up through the roof and that appears to be where the roof is leaking. I am 70 years old and do not have the resources available to pay for this repair. I would like Skylines Roofing to repair my roof and make good on our contract. I firmly believe that had there been normal rain years since 2010, this problem would have shown up long before now.Desired Settlement: My goal is to live in this house for as long as I can take care of myself. I live on a limited income, and the cost to pay someone to repair this portion of my roof is beyond my means. I would like Skylines Roofing to make good on the roof that they installed for me. If the flat portion requires replacement, then I would like them to do that at no cost to me. I would like them to fix the leak in the roof that has damaged the ceiling in my hallway, and repair the damage to the ceiling.

Company states: This was installed 5 years ago with a 1 year warranty. We went back last week and we did not even charge her. She had damages inside but we still working with her regardless.

The State Contractors License Board has taken on this complaint. Mr [redacted] has reluctantly completed some of the issues in my complaint, he has not finished the work to my satisfaction. He has balked at every step, and has complained openly to me about his responsibility in this matter. He, in fact, let it slip to me that he originally should have put two layers of roofing on my house, and only put two layers on. So, while it is not necessary for you to follow up, I think that it would be to your benefit to follow up with me until the issue is resolved. In my opinion, I do not believe that Mr. [redacted] deserves to be on the list of 'better businesses'.
