Skyview Plaza Hotel

Review: This hotel was booked and paid for through [redacted]. I stayed there with 2 friends on the night of July 25th 2013. On July 29th 2013 my checking account (debit card) was charged (and overdrawn) $250.00. I called the hotel immediately and was told we smoked in the room.

Two of us (including myself) have never smoked a cigarette in our lives (we both feeling that smoking is absolutely disgusting.) The third person has quit cigarettes and switched to an E-Cig (electronic cigarette that contains water vapor). She did not even bring any cigarettes with her, only the E-Cig. Nothing, including the E-Cig, was smoked by our party in this room.

This room was booked under my name. There was never a moment where my 2 friends were left alone in the room. I was in the room with them 100% of the time. I did not even use the bathroom on my stay other than to get ready in the mirror and was in and out with the door open.

I called the hotel at 11am on July 31 2013 and was offered nothing and told that I have to talk to the manager, they did not offer to take my number. They proceeded to tell me that there will be no manager on the premesis for 3 hours. I asked the receptionist if there are hundreds of employees working in the hotel at that moment virtually unmanaged with no authority around, she responded 'yes'.

Clearly I am beyond upset, I am the kind of person who will absolutely pay for damages I have caused but in this case, this is entirely FALSE, and a scam. I was not even notified of this, I checked my bank account and it was negative and it said "Skyview". They are 7 hours away from my home and I feel helpless to get this resolved.

I am going to continue to contact this hotel for my money back but am moving forward with filing this complaint because this is absolutely unacceptable and is no way to run a business. If there was any evidence of smoking it would have been from the last guests which indicates that they do not check the rooms after every singe check out.Desired Settlement: I definitely expect a refund of the $250.00 debited back into my checking account as soon as possible.

A comp for my brief stay there would be desired as well if possible, for the time, stress and overdraft fees that have gone into this ordeal. I paid $76.41 for this room.

Review: I took spouse out for mothers day this year. Of course we were going out to dine, that's a given. Before we checked into Skyview Plaza Hotel, we went up to the front desk and asked if the restaurant was open, we received a yes it is. So since we were eating there we figured we will stay there so we don't have to drive home late. We rarely get days off because we work long hours, so this night was special. We went up stairs for one hour to get ready for dinner only find out the restaurant is closed. We wouldn't have even went t the room or checked in if the front desk told us the restaurant was closed. That's the point of Mothers Day DINNER. My spouse was so upset that we left. Our night was ruined, or should I say her special night was ruined. Not only did the staff member who should be educated on what goes on in the establishment they're in, especially what goes on, on the same floor they're working, ruin our night, they wouldn't even comp us or refund my money. I spent 1 hour in that room getting ready for a dinner I was told would be available and was the only reason I checked in. On top of that I received a charge of $250.00 for smoking in a room I though was smoking. When I arrived they were aware I was a smoker, as they seen me with cigarettes. They never said a word. Knowing I couldn't read without m glasses, I informed them and specifically asked what was the paper I was signing and is there anything I need to know. Any rules or regulations I need to be aware of. I was told It's just your paper work to check in. We just need your signature and the bill totaled $100.00 . By my signature you can tell that I had a hard time seeing, since my first and last name are so far an off apart. We learned of the Skyview Hotel from a friend who said they seen reviews on [redacted]. My spouse pulled it up on the computer and we have a print out of [redacted] Information on Skyview Plaza Hotel. 1 double bed SMOKING. 2 double beds SMOKING. But they claim to be smoke free, when many of the reviews specifically say smells like smoke. No coincidence, they con people. I can't see and they took advantage of that. Now I'm stuck paying for two payments that the staff should be accountable for. Or at least comp me a night when the restaurant is open. And really open this time.Desired Settlement: I would like refund to my credit card or at least a comp for a night the restaurant is open.
