Complaint ID [redacted] Sled Werks has received a complaint letter from one of our customers who sought advice or counsel from the Revdex.com. Sled Werks is not part of the Revdex.com but will be happy to cooperate in providing 2 sides of a story or explanation regarding the...

complaint against the company. Sled Werks received a 1983 Mercedes 380xl, the vehicle belonged to [redacted]. Upon receiving the vehicle Sled Werks did not receive any money for parts or diagnostic purposes. Sled Werks management advised to leave the vehicle so that we may figure out why the vehicle does not run. Ms. [redacted] agreed and left the vehicle in our care. Upon further inspection of the vehicle Sled Werks ASE Certified technicians found that the vehicle was not running due to damaged timing chain also when the timing chain malfunctioned various other parts such as valves, valve guides and pistons were damaged. This particular damage is not uncommon when timing chains break or become loose. This type of damage is caused by what it known as an interference engine. The difference between an interference engine and non-interference if the secondary damage caused by timing chain malfunction. The above stated vehicle IS an interference engine and suffered heavy mechanical damage. Sled Werks management contacted Ms. [redacted] about the vehicle and the damage that occurred. Sled Werks also advised that the parts for this particular Mercedes are not readily available on the local market due to the year and model of the vehicle. The parts would have to be located overseas and or through an overseas dealer. Sled Werks was able to locate one vendor who can supply the parts, the vendor is located in Germany. Once contacted, the vendor advised that the parts will be on back order and will have to be ordered individually NOT AS A SET. Due to the fact of the vehicle being as old as it is not one company will stock or sell an entire kit to repair the engine. That being said there are over 23 parts that would have to be ordered to repair the engine. Ms. [redacted] was contacted and informed of the damage and the cost to repair the vehicle also the rarity of available parts for this particular Mercedes model. Ms. [redacted] understood the situation and agreed to send a minimum deposit of $2,500.00. Because of Ms. [redacted]s location and distance from the Sled Werks payment became difficult to obtain. Ms. [redacted] decided to deposit the $2,500.00 into her [redacted]'s account who happened to work at Sled Werks as a [redacted] Ms. [redacted]. Sled Werks did not disagree with this solution mainly because Ms. [redacted] is related to Ms. [redacted]. After a solution was planned to receive the money Sled Werks management did not receive word for up to 30 days if the money was ever sent. Ms. [redacted] contacted Sled Werks and inquired if we had received the deposit. Management replied to her request that the money was never received within a 30 day period. Sled Werks management questioned Ms. [redacted] as to where the deposit went or was ever sent. Ms. [redacted] repeatedly stated that she never received the deposit and will contact her [redacted] to make sure the account transfer information was correct. During this time frame Sled Werks had already started working on the vehicle as far as tear down and removal of engine components to prepare for the deposit and order parts. Another 41 days had passed with no deposit or any word from Ms. [redacted] as to where the deposit was received. Sled Werks management would question Ms. [redacted] on a daily basis. The answer never changed "No I haven't received it yet, I'm waiting". At this point the vehicle was considered to be in a standstill with no solution to continue or order parts. The vehicle was placed in the back storage area of the shop until further notice. A short time after the vehicle was placed in storage Ms. [redacted] finally admitted that she received the deposit 5 days after. Ms. [redacted] stated that once she received the deposit she received a phone call from Ms. [redacted] who specifically said "This money came from your [redacted], not me." In the end of their conversation Ms. [redacted] and [redacted] Ms. [redacted] divided the money amongst each other to purchase Christmas gifts. The promise that they made between each other was not to tell [redacted] (Ms. [redacted]s husband) and Sled Werks of what they had done. In the meantime Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] would call on a daily if not multiple times a day to ask if we received the deposit. Upon hearing Ms. [redacted]'s confession Sled Werks removed her from the company and agreed not to press charges of embezzlement due to the fact that her [redacted] (Ms. [redacted]) were related and the money belonged to Mr. [redacted] (Ms. [redacted]s husband). This matter would have to be settled amongst family NOT COMPANY AND FAMILY. Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] came into Sled Werks wanting to know why the vehicle was not done. Sled Werks management exposed Ms. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted]'s wrong doing. Ms. [redacted] denied the allegations and repeatedly stated I sent the money. This "BLAME GAME" continued for an hour. Finally Ms. [redacted] pulled $1,300.00 out of her purse threw it toward management and stated "I don't care who took the money, finish my [redacted] car!" and walked out. Sled Werks since has ordered parts for this vehicle to complete the job. Unfortunately as previously stated, the parts are hard to find and do not remain available for 8 months while the family plays the BLAME GAME on each other. That being said Sled Werks had to find another source for parts. During this long drawn out process Sled Werks moved the vehicle to the owner's place of residence to store the vehicle until all parts are received. The owner's place of residence is registered with the City of Albuquerque as a proper storage facility and towing lot for vehicle. Mr. [redacted] came into Sled Werks asking to see the vehicle and where it is stored. Sled Werks management refused to relinquish the location of the vehicle because it serves as a repossession lot as well as storage and only employees or companies conducting business with Sled Werks know the location. Sled Werks offered to send a company tow truck to pick the vehicle up and bring it to the shop so that Mr. [redacted] can visually see that his vehicle is readily available at any time. Mr. [redacted] refused and stated there is no need. As an end result after Mr. [redacted] visited Sled Werks 2 weeks later we received a letter of complaint from Ms. [redacted] using the Revdex.com to state a claim of unsatisfactory results of work being performed by Sled Werks. Bottom line is Ms. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] stole the money from family and blamed Sled Werks for falling behind. Even though we had no money to buy parts this whole time! Now that Sled Werks has received a complaint from the Revdex.com on Ms. [redacted]s behalf. The company will be returning the vehicle as is to a local family member for Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] to pick up and arrange shipment to their residence in Las Vegas NV. The $1,300.00 dollar deposit will be applied toward tear down labor and parts already ordered that are non-refundable due to the fact that they were ordered from Germany. Should there be any questions or comments please feel free to contact us as for now Sled Werks will be removing the company and management from this situation.
