Good Afternoon,
After the patient contacted us regarding his balance, we
contacted *** on 12/15/to confirm the claim had processed correctly
This was due to the allowable on the Explanation of Benefits being much higher
than what we were expecting and as a result, much higher
than what we had
quoted to the patient prior to the testing.
We were concerned that the claim had processed incorrectly. The *** Claim Representative was
unable to confirm if the claim processed correctly. They mentioned that this particular CPT code
(***) was reviewable. For that reason,
the Representative sent the claim back for review. This would explain the "mirror
image" the representative mentioned to the patient. We have not, nor would we ever double bill
for any service we provide. We were
told by the *** Claims Representative to wait at least days for
response
We contacted the claims department at *** as soon as
we received the Revdex.com letter and were informed the claim had processed correctly
We also asked our Contracts Department to research all rates for *** and
confirm if the rates we had on file were correct. We have confirmed on Friday 1/19/2018, that
the allowable rate we had on file was incorrect and have since been supplied
with corrected rates
Per the Explanation of Benefits we have from ***, the
allowable for the Technical Component for CPT ***-TC is $1,583.05. This is a very large difference (+ $1,293.62)
from what we had in our system for the allowableDue to low volume with this particular CPT
code and this insurance, the rate increase was not caught and put into our
workflow or our system. We have since
updated our workflow and system with the correct rate. This will prevent this issue with this
Insurance from reoccurring.
Due to SleepMed unintentionally misquoting the patient for
the reasons mentions above, we will close out our claim for the technical as
paid in full. We have also stopped the
recurring payment plan that was set up prior to testing. The patient should not receive any more
statements from SleepMed for this claim

office did remove the patient from the program to prevent this from happening again.If you have any other questions please feel free to contact our office

I disagree with the statement "This patient signed up for a automatic shipment of medical supplies and didn't realize that a shipment would be sent out with a charge". I had cancelled automatic shipment and when I spoke with the sales agent, I specifically asked if I would be charged, and was told that I would not be charged anything. You may close out this case as I my balance was written off, but I want it noted that I was mis-informed. When speaking with the sales agent, I told him that I was going to purchase my supplies with a less expensive provider who was not charging full MSRP, but was promised that I would not be charged.
