I have operated a successful business for the past five-plus years, with no complaints lodged against my business with the exception of MsE [redacted] When MsE [redacted] asked that issue a new check to replace one with a reported Smudge on it, I agreed to do so with the understanding that payment would be stopped on the original checkI explained very clearly to MsE [redacted] that she should she try to cash or deposit the stopped check the bank would not accept it and a penalty fee would be involvedIt is regretful that MsE [redacted] did not heed my advice, had she done so none of this upset would have occurredThe replacement chethe amount of $29.51--was received and cashed by MsE [redacted] .lan honoring my agreement with MsE [redacted] to sell the final consigned furniture item that remains in my shopAs with any other consignor, she is welcome to collect that piece of furniture after ninety days, as she has been notified.Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have.Thank you.J [redacted] , Owner SLO CONSIGNMENT

In response to your correspondence dated Tuesday, August 9, 2016, please find the following:Several furniture items were consigned by Jean E[redacted] to SLO Consignment Furniture on 4/16/16 (copy of Consignor Receipt attached). Check 5052 in the amount of $29.50 dated 5/4/16 was sent to Ms....

E[redacted] in Florida representing payment for one of the items that sold. I was contacted by Ms. E[redacted] a couple of weeks later with a request that a new check be issued as some of the printing on the check was blurred and the bank wouldn't accept it. Previous to this, I had never had a situation where a check was blurry and couldn't be cashed. For the sake of expediency and because Ms. E[redacted] seemed very concerned about being able to cash her check, I agreed to stop payment on the check and issue a replacement. I very carefully and clearly advised her that once I had stopped payment on the check she must not try to cash or deposit it because the bank would not accept it and fees Would be incurred.Payment was stopped on check 5052 on 6/10/16, and replacement check 5152 dated 6/15/16, was issued in the amount of $29.51. This check was cashed on 6/20/16 (copy of cashed check attached).Had Ms. E[redacted] heeded my words and not attempted to deposit a stopped check she would not have ended up in this situation. Furthermore, I do not understand how Ms. E[redacted] was able to deposit a check that she insisted was blurry and not acceptable by bank Standards.On the attached Consignor Receipt (signed by Jean E[redacted]), there are four items listed, there has never been any question that these items were not consigned by Ms. E[redacted].I have been in business for five plus years and I have never had a customer or consignor lodge a complaint against my business.
