SLS Heating is an overpriced and unprofessional company I had used them for some years and believed I could trust them As a consequence, when I wanted to convert an oil burner to a gas furnace, I called SLS and trusted that they would give me a fair price I was told on two separate occasions that the cost would be $ When the actual bill came, the total was $3500, the explanation being that the price of the conversion kit had gone up After the job was completed, I was stunned when a friend told me she had had the same service completed for $ When I contacted SLS and spoke to the owner, he refused to give me an itemization of the expenses for the $job He would not tell me the cost of the kit (which my friend had said was only $600), and he would not tell me the cost for labor I know he did not spend more than one day on the job Not six months later, the furnace died At this point, the owner sent me an estimate for well over $to install a new gas burning furnace I just had that service completed by another company for $ When I sent a letter detailing my complaints to SLS, I received an extraordinary call from the owner that was rude, insulting, and exceedingly unprofessional I would absolutely recommend against using this overpriced and unprofessional company

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I am power of attorney for my mother, which by state law
allows me to act on her behalf in this matter The boiler leakage was the reason the boiler
was in the off position to prevent the accumulation of liquid on the basement
floorI didn’t call demanding a refund on 11/10/ The reason for the call was to get an explanation
as to why the service tech being an expert and being told that the boiler was
leaking on his initial visit to the home didn’t recommend replacing the boiler
Instead he proceeds to make repairs that didn’t fix the leakage of the boilerThe
service tech also noted on the receipt that during his test of the system on
09/26/that he found the system to be leaking So the company’s statement about noticing the
boiler leaking days later is falseAfter the service tech left on 09/26/
my mother noticed that the boiler was running and leaking liquid all over the
basement floorShe immediately called SLS Heating that day but couldn’t get a
hold of everyoneShe called the next day but didn’t get a hold of someone until
Monday of the following week
They did send someone back out to the house but it was not
the same service tech from beforeThe company has made another statement
in their response to this complaint In
fact it was two guys that came the second time and one of the guys stated to my
mom that the boiler had to be replacedSo again my questions to the company are
why was she charged for repairs to a boiler that was unrepairable? Why their
expert service tech on the initial visit didn’t recommend replacing the boiler but
instead did repairs that wouldn’t fix the leakage of the systemBased on the
company’s claim of expert service their service tech should have known better
and did better!
As for the company offer for a $credit toward replacement
of the boiler I find this offer to be inadequate given the lack of professionalism
and customer service demonstrated by SLS Heating LLC My counter offer would be a refund of $
for the unnecessary repairs and/or a credit of $toward the replacement
of the boiler.
Sincerely,*** ***

spoke with Ms. [redacted] in July and took her credit card payment over the phone. Then I went on vacation. During this time statements were printed and sent out in which I do admit her credit card payment was processed to another account which has her address 65 Smith Street but in a neighboring town. I have fully corrected her account and apologize for her inconvenience in having to call the office 2x to rectify her account but that does not entitle her to a refund and SLS Heating will not be processing one for her. I once again apologize for inconveniencing Ms. [redacted]

Firstly, I would like to state for the record that Mr. [redacted] is not our customer, his mother is. His mother Mrs. [redacted] phoned our company for service on 9-26-14 stating that she had no heat. When her and I spoke on the phone that day I informed her that a service call for no heat would...

cost $110.00 per hour plus parts and tax, payable at the time of service that day. Mrs. [redacted] agreed to service and a technician showed up to her house. Upon arrival, the technician notes in her service slip that the boiler was in the off position and there were wires from her low water cut off saftey mechanisim not connected. The technician proceeded with the service call in an attempt to restore heat to her home. The technician reconnected the wires, replaced the nozzle and oil filter as necessary to operate her boiler. He turned on her boiler and it was running when we left that day. Mrs. [redacted] was charged for 2 hours of service time, 1 nozzle, 1 oil filter. This charge came to $287.15. 6 days later, on 10/1/14  Mrs. [redacted] called and stated that her heat again was not working. The same technician was dispatched to her residence and saw that her boiler was leaking and told her that she would need a replacement. She was not charged at all for that return trip. My boss then visited her residence and provided her with a price to replace her boiler. She was not charged for that call either. Mrs. [redacted] then stated that she did not have the money at this time to replace her equipment. That was the last time I spoke with her. Yesterday 11/10/14 I recieved a call from her son demanding a refund for the service we provided to his mother. I told him that his mother has a copy of our service slip and she was charged for the service we provided. We are a company that bills service based on time and material. The boiler was off and disconnected when we arrived the first time as indicated clearly on the service slip. In order to diagnose the problem the technician had to turn it on. That service is billable. If Mrs. [redacted] would like to purchase a new boiler from SLS Heating I would be happy to credit 2 hours labor toward her purchase for a discount of $220.00. The other portion of the bill that is for parts and tax is not in any way creditable or refundable at this time. It was a courtesy to speak with her son about his matter as it is customary not to discuss information about accounts that do not belong to the individual. SLS Heating has done nothing wrong in this matter. We are a company that bills for time, material and services rendered. I sympathize with the fact that his mother has to replace her heating equipment but we are a business and have the right to charge for expert services we provide.

Review: SLS Heating came to our home due to our boiler wasn't working and had leakage . The SLS Heating charged us for repairs to the boiler in the amount of $287.15. After repair service the boiler still didn't work and was still having leakage. We call SLS Heating and that told us that the boiler needs to be replace. I don't under standard why they couldn't have told us this prior to charging us for repairs to a boiler that was not repairable. I did attempt to contact the business and spoke with the office manager. She was very unprofessional and was shouting at me. She wouldn't listen to a word I had to say.Desired Settlement: A refund of the repair charge would be our desired outcome. We feel that they shouldn't have charged us for repairs for a boiler that was not repairable.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I chose to go with SLS Heating because they seemed to be professional and have the knowledge we were looking for. Our furnace cleaning was October 4, 2014 when both my boyfriend and I were home, my boyfriend a very hands on person wanted to learn what the tech was doing but instead he was rude and unhelpful when I asked questions. He did also make sure to tell me that some part needed to be replaced for a couple more hundred dollars so I said I'd get another opinion. I like to pay these kinds of bills in cash and remember doing so. 3 months later I moved cross country changing all of my address to the state of **. In JUNE 2015 I received a $145 bill stating it was past 90 days due, 9 months after the service itself. After calling and speaking with Christina telling her I had already paid but since moving lost my receipt and could no longer prove it I asked why I was just now receiving this bill. She asked if I had gotten the Feb bill and I said no, despite all my addresses being changed since January 7, 2015. After speaking with my boyfriend and other family members making sure they didn't have this payment in any of their files I reluctantly paid again on July 8th with my debit card over the phone so it wouldn't go to collections. Now August 10 I received ANOTHER bill so on August 11, I called and spoke to Ward K[redacted] who apologized and said he would get if figured out and have the office manager call me the following day. The next day August 12, I received a call from Christina again who left a voicemail telling me she had no history of payments on my account and to give her a call back. I called back and spoke with Christina again, stating I had already been through this and that I had paid by card in July. She told me she had only checked to see that I had paid by CHECK nothing else. She stated she didn't realize I had 2 accounts related to my address and did actually see that I had already paid by card. I asked her to take me out of their system so I would not receive another bill from them and before finishing my sentence, Christina cut me off saying CONSIDER IT DONE she then hung up on me. They have been one of the least professional companies I have ever worked with which is certainly sad since it was a local business I was supporting.Desired Settlement: After being told twice that I had not paid and reluctantly paying again so it would not affect my credit I have lost complete trust in this companies integrity and am very suspicious of the situation I am finding myself in. I do not want to be connected with the company any more and would like a refund for the time, money and hassle they have caused now being 3,000 miles away from them and having to prove I paid for a service that I was very dissatisfied with.

SLS Heating is an overpriced and unprofessional company. I had used them for some years and believed I could trust them. As a consequence, when I wanted to convert an oil burner to a gas furnace, I called SLS and trusted that they would give me a fair price. I was told on two separate occasions that the cost would be $3000. When the actual bill came, the total was $3500, the explanation being that the price of the conversion kit had gone up. After the job was completed, I was stunned when a friend told me she had had the same service completed for $1600. When I contacted SLS and spoke to the owner, he refused to give me an itemization of the expenses for the $3500 job. He would not tell me the cost of the kit (which my friend had said was only $600), and he would not tell me the cost for labor. I know he did not spend more than one day on the job. Not six months later, the furnace died. At this point, the owner sent me an estimate for well over $5000 to install a new gas burning furnace. I just had that service completed by another company for $3800. When I sent a letter detailing my complaints to SLS, I received an extraordinary call from the owner that was rude, insulting, and exceedingly unprofessional. I would absolutely recommend against using this overpriced and unprofessional company.
