8/17/2016Response from Jim R*** (Owner/Partner): I am one of two partners (owners) of SlugFestThe Revdex.com letter to me was the very first time I have heard about this situationcontacted my partner and he was aware of the discussion he had with the customer back in April but since he had not
heard back from her since April, he was under the impression that the situation had been resolved based on their conversationMuch of the customer's complaint is invalid and unfairShe is correct about the $refund for the one tournament that was not playedThat decision was just made only weeks agoThose refunds are being distributed at this timeI am the "Financial Officer" of the company and expect those refunds to be distributed by mail this weekThis is my first week back in my office after being away on vacation from 8/to 8/which is why the refunds have not yet been mailedWe are unable to offer any additional refund beyond the $because the customer did participate in the entire 11-month program and declined the offer of a $refund when she spoke to my partner in AprilShe opted to remain in the program at that time. What must be understood is that the 11-month program cost is not based only on the number of tournaments playedTournaments do not start until March...but the program starts the FallThe customer's daughter participated in all the winter workouts, had 6-months of high quality coaching in our facility, had access and use of our facility at discounted rates including discounts in our facility Pro-shop and on-line Pro-shop, She was provided and used a uniform and played in tournaments...all before speaking to my partner with her first complaint about the program.I would contest the customer's statement that the coach told her that "Slugfest was closing its doors"That is absolutely falseWe are however discontinuing our Slugfest Steel travel team program (which was operated as a separate division of our organization)That program has been dissolved and maybe the customer misinterpreted the coach's statement in that regardBut the Slugest facility and organization is up and running with no plans of discontinuing our operationsAnd we get very positive reviews and statements from the overwhelming majority of the customers who use our facility and our services.Below is the written response from Joe R*** (the other partner/owner of SlugFest).Response from Joe R*** Owner/Partner): The customer's daughter was accepted to the SlugFestTravel Softball program in October of Our softball program is roughly months in durationWe promise a minimum often (10) tournaments over the course of the program, The cost is $with a $non-refundable deposit required to secure a spot on the rosterPer the rules and regulations of the SlugFest Program, refunds are not offered after the first competitive tournament which is usually scheduled for late March. The customer is correct in her statement regarding our inability to field a 12U softball teamSince we were unable to provide the level of play that the customer's daughter was offered, our organization would have been more than willing to refund the full registration amount, including the non-refundable depositUnfortunately, the customer did not bring the natter to Iny attention until Apr of As I explained to the customer at that time, we were already months into the month program and her daughter had been involved in months of coaching, practices, facility use, uniforms as well as a couple tournamentsNormally, we would not offer a refund at this stage in the programHowever, we offered the customer a refund of $which was equal to the approximate per player cost for the remaining tournamentsAfter our discussion with the customer in April, she decided to stay with the programWe have received no correspondence regarding additional concerns from *** *** since our initial discussion in April. In July 2016, was contacted by the head coach and informed that the girls were having a tough time during recent tournaments and moral was lowThere was one remaining tournament or the schedule for the seasonIt was decided by both the coaching staff and myself that is was in the best interest of the players to forego the final tournament and offer all the players a $refund. There were nine (9) tournaments attended by the 4U team this yearWe normally schedule two (2) additional tournaments in case of weather. With respect to the customer's comments regarding the business closing; it's unfortunate that someone may have made that type of comment but it is untrueSlugFest has become a staple in the Exeter community and has built its reputation on customer service and attention to detail
