Small World Children's Dentistry

Review: Small World Dentistry employs wonderful dentists. Unfortunately, their billing practices are dishonest and unethical. Our son needed several fillings. Because he has autism the doctor deemed it was best to give him nitrous oxide during the procedure. When we discussed this he specifically stated "The nitrous will not be covered by your insurance company. Do you wish to proceed?" We were then given a waiver that our dentist claimed was for the nitrous oxide only. At no point did we discuss our options for fillings or the cost of the fillings. Our dentist implied the rest of all expenses would be covered by our insurance provider, Delta Dental.

The dentist and his staff deliberately obfuscated the full cost of the procedure. More importantly, like most companies he is failing to provide price transparency in the products offered. And the price differential is arbitrary; white amalgam is actually a less expensive material than silver amalgam but unscrupulous dentists charge more for it.

This is no different than the undisclosed Master Charger game played by most hospitals and its the #1 reason why health care costs are out of control in America. Health Service Providers line their pockets by omitting and obfuscating the actual cost of their services.Desired Settlement: We want a partial refund. In addition, we want Small World Dentistry to disclose its full costs to all customers in the future. Hiding expenses from consumers is unethical. Charging more for a product that costs the same or less is also unethical.
