Smart Care Exteriors Reviews (1)

Review: Company "repaired" roof ridge vent last year by replacing several shingles. All shingles placed by them have come off.

See above summary. In addition I have a contractor at my home today repairing the area where the shingles placed by Smart Care Exteriors came off. I found one in my yard and showed it to the new contractor. It still had the two nails in it which were placed by Smart Care. My contractor said Smart Care used the wrong nails. They used 1" nails which aren't sufficient to "grab" onto anything the shingle is being nailed into. The new contractor said 2 1/2" nails should have been used. Desired Settlement: I paid Smart Care $200 to perform this repair and would like my money refunded due to poor and inferior workmanship.

To our records, we received a request to come to the customers home on 10/10/12 noting " I have several roof shingles that need to be replaced on the peak of my roof, which was the result of storm damage last year."

On 10/18 a written proposal was emailed to said customer for a complete roof repair.

On 10/26/12 a follow up email was placed with this customer.

Again on 12/6/12 another follow up email was placed.

December was the last documented contact with this customer, and no roof repair was completed to our records. If proper documentation can be shown to prove that we completed this work - then we can press forward.

All work completed work under Smart Care Exteriors does in fact come with a warranty as discussed with each home owner.

This investigation is still on going on our end - we are going through bank statements to search and see if a mistake was made on our end.

The company is denying that they performed work at my home. I have the cancelled check from my bank, check number 358, dated 10/15/12 made out to Smart Care Exteriors in the amount of $200, which they promptly deposited after they did the roof work. The person who was at my home was [redacted]. They contact me subsequent to replacing several roof shingles with a proposal to replace my entire roof, which doesn't need replacing. It is my opionion that they purposely performed inferior work in replacing the shingles in October so the shingles would come off the roof thereby thinking this would lead me to believe I needed the entire roof replaced and therefore hire their company to do so. I am again asking for a refund in the amount of $200 due to the poor workmanship displayed by this company. Also of note, at NO TIME did I receive any type of warranty from them for the repair.

To whom this may concern,

Upon further investigation we have noted in our records that we did indeed complete said work. [redacted] did go out to this home and estimate the roof for a complete re-roof. We stand by our workmanship 100%. We would like to note that the installer that performed this work is no longer working with us to date and again if there is error on our end we assume 100% responsibility. Proper protocol for repair work or any type of workmanship completed - if the customer has any issue - would be to call us first so that we can rectify the situation. We are not denying any responsibility. What we would need to do would be to meet with the home owner and investigate the area. We need to make sure that the shingles that are detached from the roof were the ones that we in fact installed and unfortunately cannot just go on the word of the customer. Again - we are not denying any responsibility and we stand by our workmanship 100%. As soon as we can go to the roof and assess the situation in question we can move further in this process.

Smart Care states that "proper protocol" would be to contact them, etc. In that I was not given any paperwork, warranty, or the like, I was not aware this was the procedure to follow. That said, I no longer have the room shingle as I gave it to the contractor who I had to hire to repair the job that Smart Care did. Even had I not given the shingle to the new contractor, I'm not sure how Smart Care could identify if a shingle was or was not installed by them. They admit they did the work and say they are not denying responsibility. I disagree....they are denying responsibility, as well as not providing good customer service. By using improper nails to secure roof shingles I would be surprised if they didn't have this issue prior with other customers. Or, as I previously mentioned, purposely used incorrect nails on my small roof repair in order that the shingles would come off, and that I would then hire them to replace my entire roof. In any event, my current contractor can give a statement/testimony as to the state of the shingle and the two nails that were in it when I gave it to him, if need be. As the roof has been repaired by the new contractor, there is no need for Smart Care to come look at a job that has been completed. I again ask, and will not settle for anything less than a full refund in the amount of $200 for the work performed by Smart Care.

In having an A+ rating with the Revdex.com, written testimonials, and many other written forms of proof that we have an upstanding reputation in our community - we would like to point out that we would never intentionally improperly install ANYTHING. Smart Care Exteriors has gone out to customers houses who thought that they needed work - and Smart Care has advised that there were no issues and left homes without proposing false estimates etc. We do not run a a company based on lies but instead with integrity and honesty. That being said - we will refund the customer the full amount of $200.00 for the improper roof repair. We do assume responsibility, we are not denying anything, and perhaps a phone call to our companies office at first notice of any issue would have allowed us to have better customer service.

According to the BB website, this case was closed on 5/27 after I agreed to Smart Care Exteriors refunding the $200 that I paid for the faulty repair. To date (15 days) later, I have not received a check from them, so I would like this case re-opened.
