Smart Choice Woodfinishing

Deposit taken for work to be performed. A minimal amount of work was performed. I had to hire another business to do the work
On June 8th 2018, I gave *** (owner) of Smart Choice Woodfinishing a deposit of 1,000.00 which was 50% of the quote for refinishing of my kitchen cabinets. The following week he removed the cabinet doors. No other work was done for approx 2 weeks. Then a worker representing Smart Choice Woodfinishing came to my home and spent approx 4 hours taping and papering the kitchen area. Approx another 2 weeks went by, during which time I attempted to contact *** to get some start date on the work to be performed. He failed to respond. I was able to locate where he was storing my cabinets (at some one related to him ) I contacted that person, was able to get my cabinet doors back, and hired another firm to do the work. *** was present when I retrieved the doors. *** stated he would figure out how much he had into the job, and would calculae a refund. A number of weeks went by where *** would answer his phone and say he was busy and would get back to me. He never called me back except when he called angrily when I tried to contact him through the person that was string his doors. He has thrown around numbers like a 200.00 refund, saying the value of work done was close to the amount of deposit. This is ludicrous, for 4 hrs of labour. To daye I am unable to get any money back from my deposit. I ahve been more than patient.
