I received an unsolicited call that I qualified for a special program that could help me with repairs I might need on my home After a minute or she said how lucky I was that a person was in neighborhood and asked if I would be free at 1pm I said I was available Just before we ended the call she asked if I had any other appointments that afternoon I said no I assumed this question was for a reason if they were running late would I still be available My expectation was for a professional inspection of my roof and give me the results If work needed to be done I expected options None of this happened A representative was at my door at 1pm He asked me what problems I was having and I told him about that seemed to be resolved after I put new soffits and eaves on my house I showed him where I thought the problems started Then we had a short conversation about how they could help with my roof Then he asked to measure the roof (on the ground measurement) and then if I had a step ladder he could use to measure the pitch of the roof I agreed Then he asked if he could seat down and go over his information He gave a good presentation about the roofing products they used, high quality from Owen Corning I agreed that the products were indeed top quality Then the problem started or should I say the HARD SELL for me to put a complete new roof on my house FYI he never inspected the condition of my roof which would have required him to go up on the roof Then he did some calculations and the good news was I "qualified" and there could be some incentive discounts if I was willing to "put a sign in my yard", give recommendations, etcand I would get additional discounts Then he showed me the costUnfortunately I can't put it in CAPS $28,214! I was shocked at then he said he made a calculation error and it really was ONLY $25, Then he asked me if it was doable for me - $258/mo and I wouldn't have to make any payments for days I winched Then then the new offer was to take the garage off the list $1,savings How did that sound? I winched Then the HARD SELL really started Let call my boss and see what he can do Price came down a little bit I winched He then said I could apply for a special credit card that would be interest free for s years Called the boss again and I heard him make the plea to reduce the price because I lived by myself, I was a senior, etc So the price came down to $19,no roof but I HAD TO WRITE IT UP RIGHT NOWI winched Then "I can only make offers like this and then no more" I winched and said it was a lot of money and I needed to think about it He counted with "This write this up and by law you have days in which you can cancel the contract" I said I really needed to think about it as I had just had some major expenses and really didn't want to unnecessarily add to my debt I wanted to talk to my sons about it More pressure, "I can't guarantee I can give you this offer tomorrow." I also said I needed to work out a budget and think about it After over HOURS of pressuring me (that's why they wanted me to have an open schedule for the afternoon) to replace a very large roof he looked at his watch and said he had to leave "I can still get in another appointment in today This hard sell was just like the hard sell of a timeshare (which are horrible) and you had to buy it today because it wouldn't be offered again to me My instinct was to back off for a number of reasons beside the hard sell He never looked at the condition of my roof and never gave an option to look at and more thoroughly inspect my former problem areas and give a quote for just fixing them It was a pretty hard sell for someone he knew was on a retirement budget - fix it now because it you wait it will cost you more in the future I admit it was AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT but the hard sell and no inspection of my roof would make it hard for me to recommend them to a friend or neighbor unless the person really knew they needed a new roof and were prepared for a hard sell

In response to your inquiry (we attached a copy our contract) that [redacted] signed on May 16th and within day our project manager went out and noticed the job was under estimated, at that point we notified [redacted] on May 20th that the Job was under sold and cannot be built Our contract clearly states that we have 20days from the signed date to commence with the work or cancel the contract with a lawful excuse

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Contract states work must commence with days It does not state contract can be cancelled within those days by the contractor Regards, [redacted]

I purchased an HVAC system from this company on March 18, for #13,My air conditioner stopped workingI called Smarthome to come and check it because my contract says I have a year parts and labor warrantyThey came out and looked at the unit and said it appeared to have been tampered with because they could see I had new shingles on my roofThey refused to give me a specific diagnostic or even a suggestion for repairThey said the problem was that my solar panel company changed the electric panelHowever, the electric panel was installed years prior to the air conditionerOne person who they called the technition told my daughter that someone changed the wires so they were "looping" However, there was no electrical work done and everything else in the entire house still has powerOnce again when I asked for a specific diagnostic reason for the air to be out they refused several times, and suggested that I blame my solar panel company or roofersI also asked

I signed a contract to have artificial turf installed Four days later the company called me to say they are breaching the contract because they felt they under bid the job

This hard sell was just like the hard sell of a timeshare (which are horrible) and you had to buy it today because it wouldn't be offered again to me
My instinct was to back off for a number of reasons beside the hard sell He never looked at the condition of my roof and never gave an option to look at and more thoroughly inspect my former problem areas and give a quote for just fixing them It was a pretty hard sell for someone he knew was on a retirement budget - fix it now because it you wait it will cost you more in the future
I admit it was AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT but the hard sell and no inspection of my roof would make it hard for me to recommend them to a friend or neighbor unless the person really knew they needed a new roof and were prepared for a hard sell

The person I spoke to at the Contractors Licensing Board indicated the underbidding the contract does not constitute a lawful excuse to cancel the contract

CUSTOMER ENTERED OUR CONTRACT FOR ARTIFICIAL TURF ON MAY AND ON MAY 20TH WAS NOTIFIED THAT OUR COST WAS UNDER ESTIMATED AND THAT WE WILL BE CANCELING THE CONTRACT, WE ARE WITHIN OUR DAYS WORK COMMENCEMENT PERIODWHICH IS STATED ON OUR CONTRACT

I have been horrassed bythis company and treated with no respect This is a company I would never recomend Retaining attorney tommorrow ,

My experience was consistent with those I readHigh pressure, very high price estimate and a threat of a $4k price increase (from $17k+) if I didn't agree that dayThe sales person asked repeatedly, how can we earn your business? Surely not this way

I got a quote for windows and slidersWhat I've learned since receiving my quote from Joe with Smart Home Energy Solutions is that he is a price gouger, which equates to thieveryJoe's price was DOUBLE the quote received from multiple entities much better known than Smart HomeDon't do business with this company
