The replied sent back from Smart Start is a fabricationWhen I went to Yipes to have the unit installed, I did watch a video, but, it did not state anything about humming into the unit, only blowing into the unitAnd secondly, I was asked to initial the back of the paperwork before any instructions were given to me on how to use the unit and had to pay prior to the unit being installedOnce the unit was installed, then I was permitted to go into the garage area where the tech had demonstrated to me that it was a blowing and humming process....I was not aware of this when I was asked to place my initials on the back of the paperworkSo the outcome of this was that I could not accomplish this technique and when the time came to them closing down I was informed by the owner that I had to leave, so therefore my vehicle was removed to the outside and I had to contact a friend to come and get me and my vehicleAs stated in the original complaint, I then had the unit removed and another device place in my vehicle and was informed by them that the first device that was installed in my vehicle was installed wrong and could of cause damage to my vehicleThis was stated in the original complaintAs far as the statement from Smart Start, it was not required by the court to have a device in my vehicle with the humming included as my new device does not include humming processAnd it was neglect on the part of the sale person who is employed by Smart Start not to give all details to a consumer inquiring about the productTherefore I am requesting a refund back of the monies paid outI believe whole heartily that this is more than fairI work hard for my money and to dish out another $for another device is a hardship on me financial as a widow

Date: 5-26-15 Good Afternoon, I apologize for the delay in responding to the complaint submitted on 5-8-15 - [redacted]. We have researched [redacted] account and it has been noted that the client paid an installation upcharge of $108 due to her vehicle being a tier 1 difficulty vehicle....

The installation charge was quoted to the client on the day the install was scheduled and will not be refunded. The account was also noted with the price upcharge. The client also signed off on the client contract indicating that she was properly trained by the technician, received written instructions, and watched the training video. Regarding the hum removal, the account notes did indicate that the client contacted our corporate headquarters on March 20th and on March 23rd regarding getting the hum removed from the unit the account was noted with the following: March 20th - “ISSUE - client inquiring about having the hum tone removed from the test routine TROUBLESHOOTING - advised that this is possible with the proper paperwork from the MA RESOLUTION - client understood” March 23 - “Client asked if she would be refunded the labor of install, because she hasn’t driven vehicle since drove home from install because she couldn’t blow into unit...advised client no...Then client asked why units have hum tone and why did we install hum unit, because her court officer told her no hum required by state of NY and she was told that SSI has units with no hum...EDUCATED CLIENT, ALL SSI UNITS HAVE HUM AND WITH COURT ORDER HUM CAN BE ADJUSTED...SHE WOULD JUST HAVE TO GET COURT TO AUTH CHANGES IN WRITING...client kept repeating what officer told her??? Reiterated above” As stated in the account the client was advised to get court authority in writing to remove hum. In addition I have carefully reviewed the client’s logs and our device performed as required, it also indicated successful use of the device after the installation. SmartStart strives to provide the best service and product for all of our clients. We will assist as much a possible however due to the information on the account we are not able to provide a refund as the client is paying for the lease of the equipment while in her possession.
