Smartstyle Salon Reviews (2)

Yesterday on Labor Day, I decided to take my daughter, who is 14 years old and is completely obsessed with her hair and got her haircut at smart style.. trying to save money, I went there because I had a four dollar off coupon which made it like $12 and some change. I had asked the lady to layer her hair towards her face and to do some layers in the back.. When she was done she did not dry her hair or even style it a little. where her hair was wet I couldn't really tell anything about the haircut..after we got home her hair had air dried so I took the straightener to it...her hair is completely messed up, all the lady did at the salon was take her bangs that were the same length as her hair and cut it to where it's about to her chin and that was it... I
have pictures to prove this...I will be contacting the store manager because I should not have to pay even if it was $12 , although now that I'm thinking about it, I kind of understand now why it was a $12 haircut...the lesson I learned yesterday was to not go cheap when dealing with hair cuts...I will never ever ever go to another SmartStyle inside of a Walmart ever again.. This SmartStyle is in Port Orange Florida

Review: I came in on New Year's eve around 5 p.m., I have a long hair just a little pass my bra line. As soon as I walked in, [redacted] took care of me. I told her I want "SHOULDER LENGTH" haircut, a little layer so it won't puff. She turned me around and started cutting my hair, I got to talking to the man next to me who's also getting a hair cut. About 30 minutes later, my 7 year old daughter who was with me, had to go to the bathroom. [redacted] said it was okay since she also had to go. We went and while I was waiting for my daughter, I looked at myself in the mirrow, this is the only time I saw that the haircut was too short, as in boy haircut too short. I was shocked. I told [redacted] that it was not what I wanted, she told me that I don't have to pay for the haircut. I was more worried on how I look like instead of the payment. I noticed also that it was not even since I was pulling from the bottom and there was still long hair in it. We came back to the salon and she just cut those long hair and said it was even. I knew it was not, the other lady, [redacted] came and offered to look at it and try to fix it. I told her to get it even but try not to cut anymore since it was too short already. She did take care of it and styled it but I was still not me. I didn't really get mad at that time since it was New Year's eve, I didn't want them to ruin my night. As I got home, my son called me "Justin Bieber" which made me realized, it was really that bad. I became depressed the whole night and didn't have the courage to take any pictures with my family. The next day was a very special Family gatherings for us, I was not in any pictures at all since I didnt feel comfortable at all. As I talked to [redacted], then the manager [redacted], they didnt really any offer anything that would make me feel better. I simply ask for them to hightlight it to put a little color and make me feel good about myself. I never had this kind of haircut, and I am pretty depressed about it. I don't even know how to style it myself.Desired Settlement: I just wanted them to make me feel good for having this too short of a hair, color or highlight would probably make a big difference. I would also like FREE haircuts for myself from [redacted] or [redacted] only when my hair grows to proper length.

Response:

In response to the complaint I have received, f would first like to state that as the District Leader for our business, f have reviewed this situation. I have spoken with the salon manager, as .welt as the stylists who were involved in the situation. The stylist who performed the service is both apologetic and disappointed that the client did not receive what she was hoping for. However, I can completely assure you she is a talented and hardworking employee, who does everything she can to try to meet the needs of her guests. After the second stylist attempted the adjust the haircut and style it for our guest, she was encouraged to return, so that the manager of the shop could speak with her, and also try to meet her needs. The guest was not charged for her services. upor\ the client's return to the salon, the manager was happy to adjust and style the haircut. Unfortunately, when the client arrived, she Immediately informed the manager she would not be happy unless she received a free color and highlight service. The manager assured her she would be happy to adjust it for her, and invited her to return for another cut and style free of charge once her hair had grown more and she would feel comfortable trimming it. The guest stated again that the only thing she wanted was "free color and highlights", which the manager told her she would have to clear with her supervisor. (myself). She adjusted and styled the guests' hair a second time. After speaking with my manager, and the stylists involved in the situation, I took the contact Information of the guest and personality called her, hoping I could resolve the situation. I Introduced myself, and let her know I was aware of the situation and very apologetic that She was un happy with her Service, I informed her we would be more than happy to have her back to Our salon, so the manager could give another haircut and Style In the future, again free of charge Her response was, again, that the only thing that would please her is a free haircolor and highlight service (a $100.00+ service) I apologized to the guest, and politely informed her that we would certainly correct colors without charge for a guest if they had come In for that service and were unhappy, however we do not Offer them free of charge to haircut guests. She was very unhappy, Said Some questionable things, and then hung up the phone on me.As District Leader, I try to do everything I can to ensure that our guests leave the salonfeeling positive, and I truly believe my staff also does their best to create a wonderful experience Although I apologize she did not receive what she had envisioned, she has at this point received hours of their time and expertise, free of charge. She has been invited back for further free haircut services, which she is aware of, and I am unsure why she Is now requesting that when she stated to me that is "not good enough". If she has changed her mind and would like to receive another free haircut (or two, once the hair has grown) by the manager, by all means I encourage her to contact me. However, as a company, we will not offer expensive chemical services for free to an uncharged guest simply because they complain.Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for the guest, We do our best to provide our clients with the best service that we can. Sincerely, Suzanne Miller
