few items of clothing, 2 toys, a hamster cage, and 4 drink coasters and this is what her account reflects. Unless items are exceptional or high value designer brands, we have a policy that we do not take more than 20 clothing items from new customers. If more than 20 items fit this description and from one new consignor, a manager or owner of this store has to approve of the items before they can be accepted for consignment. Many of her items were older and a brand name we do not accept. When items are accepted, we then take those items and bag them in one single large bag with two slips of customer and item information in it and seal it until it is ready to go into the consignment system. If an item is too large to go into the bag, we enter the large items into the system right away and then put them on the display floor as soon as possible.  When I asked this particular consignor what she had brought in to consign, she didn't have any information other than some of the items may have been women's or boys clothing from [redacted]. Many of the "non-designer" brands we do not take, because of the low resale price. Consignor says to have many items but was not aware of exactly what she brought in so that we could research the issue. The items ticket that we gave this particular consignor has been altered , and when I tried to make sense of the ticket information and alteration she accused me of calling her a liar and stormed out of my store while saying she would return the next day. The next day she did not return.  My employees and I do not remember taking but only a few items from her and I do not recall approving a large take in from a new consignor around the time she visited my business. I have gathered her few items that did not sell and her $29.00 dollars and emailed her to please come and pick it up, which she has not done. I do not feel I will be able to make this consignor happy since I refuse to pay for items that I did not accept for consignment. This consignor is welcome to collect her belongings and receive the money for her items that did sell. Or if she would prefer, I could email her a check with a donation slip for items that did not sell.
As far as the situation about the boots and my daughter, I am very offended that she has accused me of stealing from our donation stock and jeopardizing my very good business name . We have a policy that between 60 and 90 days after items have been entered into the system, items may be donated to [redacted]. If the consignor does not want the items donated then it is the consignors responsibility to pick these items up before that time or contact us if you have a different plan for the items. I do tell my employees and family that consigned items need to stay on the display floor for sale and if that item does not sell before its time to go to the designated donation stock, then they may purchase the item at a 20% discount which comes from the business's profit on the item, not the consignors profit. I did tell my daughter that we had to try and sell them and if they went to consignment then I would purchase them for her. We are sadden that we have been accused of being dishonest . We are a family owned business with 3,900 consignors and have never been accused of stealing or being dishonest from any of our consignors in the past 5 years that we have been open. We work very hard to make sure our consignors feel comfortable and keep their items safe to the best of our abilities.

WAS SOLD AN UNSAFE PROUDUCT FOR MY BABY. MISSING PARTS.I WANT TO SMARTY PANTS CONSIGNMENT STORE TO BUY A USED CRIB FOR MY BABY AND BEFORE I BOUGHT THE ITEM I SPECIFICALLY ASK IF ALL THE PARTS WERE THERE. I WAS ASSURED THAT ALL THE PARTS WERE THERE. WHEN I GOT HOME MY HUSBAND AND I RELIZED THERE WERE 8 BOLTS AND 8 SCREWS MISSING. I CALL AND SPOKE WITH THE SALE CLERK WHO SOLD ME THE ITEM AND TOLD HER ABOUT THE MISSING PARTS. I ALSO TOLD HER THAT I WOULD GO TO HOMEDEPOT TO SEE IF THEY SOLD THE MISSING PARTS, BUT THAT I WANTED HER TO REACH OUT TO HER BOSS INREGAEDS TO MY SITUATION. SHE TOLD ME TO CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY TO TALK TO HER BOSS [redacted] MY HUSBAND WENT TO HOMEDEPOT THAT SAME DAY AND THEY DID NOT CARRY THE EXACT ITEMS. I CALLED BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY AS AVISED AND WAS TOLD HER MANAGER HAS BEEN SICK AND WOULD NOT BE IN. I TOLD THE CLERK THAT HOMEDEPOT DID NOT SELL THE MISSING PARTS AND THAT I NEED HER BOSS TO PLEASE CALL ME BACK ASAP. A FEW HOURS PAST BUY AND NO CALL BACK, SO I CALL THEM BACK. I ASKED THE CLERK IF SHE TOLD HER BOSS TO CALL ME. SHE TOLD ME HER BOSS CALL ME AND I DIDN'T ANSWER. I HAD NO MISSED CALLS OR ANY VOICE MAILS ON MY PHONE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE OWNER/BOSS [redacted] CALLED THE PEOPLE WHO SHE BOUGHT THE USED CRIB FROM AND THEY TOLD HER ALL THE PARTS WERE THERE. HER BOSS SUGESTED WE KEEP LOOKING AT LOWE'S OR ACE HARDWARE, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING SHE WAS WILLING TO DO FOR ME. AT THIS POINT THE BOSS WAS AT THE STORE. I EXPRESSED HOW DISAPPOINTED I WAS AND HOW UNPROFESSINAL THEY WERE BEING. I ASK THE CLERK TO PLEASE PUT HER BOSS ON THE PHONE AND SHE SAID "SORRY I CAN'T DO THAT". I TOLD HER TO TELL HER BOSS I WAS GOING TO STOP PAYMENT ON MY CREDIT CARD AND WAS CALLING THE BETTER BISSNESS BUREAU IF SHE WAS REFUSING TO HELP ME OUT. HER BOSS TOLD HER TO TELL ME "IF THAT'S HOW SHE FEELS". I FEEL THAT THIS PLACE SOLD ME AN UNSAFE PROUDUCT FOR MY BABY AND LIED ABOUT THE MISSING PARTS, SO THEY COULD GET RID OF IT.Desired SettlementAT THIS POINT I WOULD LIKE A FULL REFUNF AND A APOLGIZE.Business Response Our policy at Smarty Pants Consignment is gently used items are sold "as is" and "all sales are final." We do our best to check all items for parts and recalls. We made all attempts available to us to resolve your issue with the gently used item; contacted the previous owner and offered suggestions in where to possibly locate parts. We apologize if your experience was not to your satisfaction.
