I called Smith Bros to complain and received a very cold response that it was past the month warranty..I asked: would you pay $170 for a repair that would only last a month?I am a World War2 vet..I live on disablity and Social Security..$170 is huge sum to meDesired Settlement: I asked that they send someone down to repair it properly...got a cold response saying that they have to charge me again..I said it should have been properly repaired in the first place

[redacted] this is the original apt from 5/20, here are the notes on file: 11/19 customer called to report the leak, advised we need to come out and there will be a service fee, customer got upset, hung up the phone. So the customer called us 6 months later. The 30 day warranty on labor has expired a long time ago. They did not even want to pay a s/f to come out and diagnose. We never refused to help, or come for the diagnostics. Customer refused to pay a service fee for a visit after unit has been working for 6 months, when the labor warranty is only 30 days.

We are willing to come for a discounted rate of $30 instead of regular $65 to diagnose the unit to make it up to the customer.

Review: We have had the worst service ever by a repair company.

My mother called them to help with her stack-able washer and dryer. [redacted] K. was dispatched and showed up on time. My mother explained to the scheduling people that it requires two people to move the stack-able; however they only sent one person.

When [redacted] arrived and wanted to move the stack-able, my mother told him again that it required two people because you have to remove the door first. [redacted] ignored my mother and proceeded to move the stack-able forward until it was stuck in place halfway out and could not be moved in nor out. [redacted] K. did not remove the door first, so no one can move the machine and no one can fix the machine. Mom still paid the $225 for a service call (highway robbery!) and [redacted] K. left the machine with no other dates set too move it back in place.

My mother contacted Smith Brothers only to be told that [redacted] was not authorized to move the stack-able in the first place and therefore, they were not sending anyone out to move it back.

Smith Brothers is responsible for this mess and yet they do not think they should fix it. So they leave my mother who is almost 75 years old with:

(1) a machine that is dangerously protruding into the hallway, so that she can barely get around it

(2) a stack-able that is not fixed, so she cannot do laundry at all.

(3) no other company will come out and move the machine because they do not want to be liable

(4) damage to the wood are surrounding the stack-able, caused by [redacted] K.

(5) and no recourse to get this resolved.

This is outrageous! Will not ever use or recommend these people ever and we are filing a complaint with the Revdex.com today.Desired Settlement: The stack-able needs to be moved back into place by Smith Brothers

or one of their designee's at their cost in a timely fashion

The complaint was addressed. Unit has been moved in place and the door frame repaired. Customer called to thank me for helping her out. I personally was not aware of any prior request for [redacted] to be back out to move the unit, neither did tech provided the info that we have an issue to deal with. Per tech the appliance had two issues: not spinning problem and hose in the back( improper installation by sears). The spinning issue was fixed by the tech, and customer was charged for repair. Technician attempted to move the unit in order to help customer out, but failed in doing so, it was too heavy for one person. Customer advised tech that she will contact sears to be back out, since they were responsible for installation. We were not aware that sears turned customer down, refused to help, because of the fact that unit was pulled out. At the moment, customer does not have any further issues or complaints with our company.

My refrigerator stopped working and I called Smith Brothers. They had worked on the same appliance before. The technician determined that the compressor was bad. I had had the compressor replaced one year earlier by them. It had a five year warranty on the part. The tech said he did not have the part with him and would have to call his boss about the compressor's failure after only one year. He said it was very unusual for this to happen. He said I would receive a call in an hour. I received no call and had to call them. I got the runaround and the manager promised I would receive a call from her ([redacted]) the next day after she spoke with their master tech. I never received a call the next day or anytime after that. It was clear to me that these people just wanted me to go away so they did not have to replace the compressor for free. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE SHADY!!!!!!!!!!

Our LG refrigerator was not cooling well even on the coldest setting. We called Smith Brothers and they sent out a repair tech. He knew immediately what the problem was when he looked at it. There was a lot of ice in the freezer. He explained that the refrigerated air goes into the freezer compartment first, and then down through a duct into the refrigerator compartment. The freezer door had apparently been left ajar which allowed the ambient humidity to build up ice in the duct between the two compartments. He explained that all that was necessary was to defrost the refrigerator to melt the ice blockage out of the duct. He very easily could have conned us into some expensive parts and labor, but he didn't. The honesty, promptness, professionalism, and expertise of this company's tech is refreshing and very much appreciated. I highly recommend them, and will definitely use them again for appliance repairs in the future.

I had them come out several months ago to repair my Subzero Freezer. They replaced the relay board in under an hour and charged me $650 - I was mentally limping for being GOUGED beyond my imagination. It didn't help to find the relay board new on eBay for less than $200.

The next time it was my Dacor oven - yes, here I am back again, the smarter and wiser consumer with a new problem requiring the replacement of my relay board. I check eBay and sure enough there is the board new for $150. I call their service desk and she tells me that the outside replacement cost will not be $500 but $350 or less.

The same surly, arrogant service rep comes out again and again parks in the fire lane in front of my house and scowls at me when I ask him to park somewhere else because the guards will ticket me for his parking violation. Five minutes later he hands me an estimate for $625. I pay him the $45 service charge and call the service rep who doesn't answer and then tell him goodbye.

Marginally ethical, poor integrity because service rep and repairman, poor attitude, and in my mind poor management - and there just isn't any excuse if I let them do it again. So I'm done - fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. But in the process I've become an anti-advocate for Smith Brothers.

Review: I contacted Smith Brothers Appliance in July 2013 to repair an ice maker. The service tech was scheduled to come out in a four hour window anywhere from 4-8 PM. He showed up at 8:30. He worked hard to diagnose the issue and scheduled another appointment to replace the compressor which was a $900 part. Once the part came in it was again very tough to schedule as the only time the service tech could come was late at night. The machine was finally repaired on a Saturday afternoon. The machine then worked for about 60 days and quit working again. I have called several times to try to schedule the service tech to come out and check the machine to no avail. He was scheduled for a morning appointment and did not show. He called me and said he would try for the evening and did not show. He called me the next day and left a message. All I want is to schedule an appointment for a time during the day.... not at 9 pm when the service person can look at my I Ice Machine. I would think that the $900 part would have a warrenty and I would be able to schedule a time when the repair person could meet me.Desired Settlement: I would like my part replaced and the service tech to be able to commit to an appoinment during normal business hours.

Appt is from 12/09 replaced condenser fan motor, completely different problem. Per [redacted] the job was completed, customer is happy.

I am a very unsatisfied customer. Here is what happened. Smith Brothers Appliance repair in Orange CA have a very Amateur service personnel.

I called Smith Brothers Appliance repair in Orange CA company to repair my central a/c system. Guy comes in and checks the freon and says good. He notices that the compressor is not running and does not bother to check anything further and jumps into conclusion that I must replace the entire unit and gives me an estimate of $2900. Because I had done some research online I was aware of the starter capacitor. And I ask him to check the capacitor. Remember, I had to ask him to check the capacitor to avoid spending $2900. He replaces the capacitor and the a/c starts working. He then charges me $350 for a $20 capacitor. He does a 2 minute job of replacing the capacitor, plus he does it because I advised him to do so. I reiterate, he did it because I asked him to do it. Bottom line I had to teach him what he must do and also pay him $350 to do his job as per my advice. I am posting in all the review sites, Facebook etc. to never call Smith Brothers repair guys from Orange CA or their affiliates. They are a rip-off and very amateur. I am very unsatisfied with the service and the money charged for this repair.
