Smith Plumbing Reviews (12)

A shower was not providing hot water. The plumber came out and said the Moen cartridge had to be replaced. He claimed the Moen product was very expensive and the total cost was just under $300. Since we were having company over and they would use this bathroom I agreed to the job. I subsequently learned the real cost of the cartridge was less than $60. In fact, the plumber told me I could have bought a new handle, shower head, and bath head from Lowes for less than $120.

On March 30th we had an appointment to go the customers home, requesting us to clean their drain lines.  Our plumber showed up to the...

customer’s house quoted the job before any services were rendered, the customer felt the quote was too high, and called asking to talk to a manager.   I told him we have a flat rate of $500.00 to hydro jet lines, and that we offer free estimates and if he didn’t agree with our price he had no obligation to pay and could contact another plumber.   We also discussed that our hydro jet would not fit in pipes under 2” and that in order to clear the other lines we would have to use the sewer machine, for an additional $200.00. I explained to him that we are competitively priced and are insured for damages and offer warranty of all our work performed, restated we offer free estimates with no obligation.   He decided to go with us then signed an invoice with the total price up front written on the invoice.  Upon completion of work 4 hours later the customer then signed the invoice 2 more times, once for acceptance of work performed, that the lines were clear, and once for method of payment.  (included a copy of the invoice with signatures) It was 6 days later after work was complete that the customer called us requesting a manager. He expressed his feelings that the service rendered was too high, and asked if we would do the job for $500.00 taking $189.00 off his bill.   We told him we are competitively priced and the total amount was discussed before work was done.   At no point did he mention that lines were not cleared or that there was a backup, or that our work was subpar, so we are extremely surprised to see him state the lines were not cleared and that he had a backup. In this case the only thing expressed to us was price, which was discussed up front with the customer who chose to authorize work and price to be done.

Smith plumbing is overpriced, unproffessional, and refuse to give refunds. Their customer service is atrocious and their employees are rude. They charged me $983.00 to replace a waterheater. After 3 return visits it was determined to have a faulty thermostat. I was told the parts would arrive in about 3 to ? Days. There was no definitive date. Fed up, I hired another plumbing company. They installed a brands new waterheater the next day for $700. Called Smith for a refund and to pick up their unit.....they refused. Claimed I didn't give them enough time to fix the problem. I gave them 10 days and 3 followup visits.....how much more did they need? In the meantime I was taking cold showers.

We sprung a leak just last night. He fixed the leak quickly and professionally. He also referred us to a contractor who came out the same night to take care of the wall repairs. Steven was an amazing plumber. I recommend Smiths plumbing to anyone. The was no trip charge. Reasonable prices to. The are coming out to do our soft water Softener and smart home water Shutoff valve next.

This company operates under "Smith Plumbing" but same owner and address. I could not rate this company low enough for service. We recently finished a custom home and the General Contractor had to nearly harass them just to get them to come out. [redacted] would come out, say one thing and then not deliver. Honesty is not part of the package with these guys. When some one would finally come out it was between 5:00-1O:00 pm. They must have too much work to deliver. Of all the trades that worked on our home, I rate Smith plumbing the lowest.

The first reviewer was lucky. He hired them for new construction. If you hire them for an existing home, they might steal your copper pipes (and sell them for over $3.00 a pound) even though the repair had nothing to do with pipes. They replace your pipes with cheap metal that will clog in no time. And they charge you for the replacement pipes. This outfit has highly incompetent plumbers though one is competent. They will take you down a path of very costly repairs that you do not need. Very aggressive in collecting in cash.

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of praises that have been expressed about Steve, who is employed by Smith Plumbing in Gilbert, AZ., and his expertise in solving their plumbing problems. Mine involved a stubborn water softener that resisted my efforts and those of others to make it work. Steve sized up the situation and after many tests, resettings, and replacement of a faulty connection he was able to restore function to the softener. I was impressed by his dedication to the job and by his tenacity in his successful search for the solution to the problem.

Review: On April 1 while remodeling one of our bathrooms, we wanted to clean all our drains. One plumber from this company wanted $449 for one hour for high pressure water flushing. In one hour he could clean two drain pipes and complained that his pipe does not fit our other drains and for other drains (five n all) he wanted to use snake at a cost of $250 additional, making it a total of $689.00. We paid for the service. This was done by noon of the day.

However, in the evening, there was a sewer back up and I called a different plumbing company, who said he back up was in the main sewer line and he used motorized snake to clear the main line and he ran all the faucets, sowers drains reaching the main sewer. The back up problem was eased. We paid the [redacted] who sent one of their night time worker, whose workmanship is exemplary, $275.00

If Smith Plumbing had resolved my problem I have no objection to the charge. But the problem was created by Smith's incompetent workmanship.

I have contacted Smith two times. First time when their technician was working in my house, I reached their office and the receptionist was most helpful to bring me in contact with the owner, who said generally they charge 500 to clean all drains with high pressure water, which was not the case in my house.

I called their office a few days later and again the owner called me. I discussed the unsatisfactory nature of their work and the employee concerned. He listened intently but the problem persists.

In my opinion, the charge for high pressure water of $449, for cleaning two drains connecting up to the main drain

is outrageous. I deserve full refund of that amount, as I had to incur extra expense of tackling the back up issue during the same day.Desired Settlement: I need refund of money as described before.

Called Smith Plumbing due to my pilot light was out. Plumber should up and told me it was a $175 dollar service charge. Calling other plumbers this is way higher than what I found to be the norm. Just terrible!

Smith Plumbing is UNETHICAL. I scheduled a plumber in January to assist us with a clogged drain. The plumber was over 2 hours later than the 5 hour window they quoted and when he did arrive, he spend 15 minutes and charged my husband $225. My husband assumed it was a rate I was quoted when I called so he paid it. I had not and would never agree to $225 for a clogged drain. I am accustomed to $75-$100 per hour for such services. I called Smith Plumbing the next day, January 29th, to inquire about the charge and was told that the billing department was unavailable and I could leave a message. I left a message and never heard from them. I left another message on February 23rd and again my call was not returned. I tried again today, April 15th, at 10:45 am and was told the billing department was at lunch and that there is no one else I may speak with (no manager or owner would take my call).

I used this company for the first time in August to fix a leaking faucet in my bathroom. I was not home when they arrived two hours later than originally stated. My adult son was home and let them in. The bill was 202.00 to replace an 0 ring! Two weeks later the leak began again. This time they replaced the Kolher cartridge. No problems since. While, I was skeptical about calling them for another repair. Yesterday, Dec 22 my electric water heater went out. I decided to give them another try. Mike arrives two hours later than the quoted time frame but I need hot water for daily activities...shower, cooking, washing my hair. After first telling me he could not fix it because I had no power...thats to long to share. He eventually determines the electric coil has been corroded. Cost 304.00. When he leaves I still have no hot water but he ensures me that it takes atleast one hour for the heater to fill then produce hot water. By 10pm I still had no hot water. I contacted him at 10 pm to notify them. For a 24 hour service company I did not hear back until 7am, but only to tell me they are booked all day! So I still have no hot water!!, any I have not heard from Smith Plumbing....still

Review: On Dec 21, 2015, I had a visit from a plumber (Steve) of Smith Plumbing in response to my request. My problem was a leak in the faucets in my bathtub. After spending about 30 minutes on the problem he said that he had finished. He presented me with a bill for $220 which I paid by check. He then left. A few minutes later,I discovered that the faucets were still leaking. I called the Company and arranged for Steve to return the next day which he did. He spent a short while working on the problem and then said it was resolved. This time I checked and found that the faucets still leaked. He then proceeded to tell me several things I could do to try to resolve the problem myself. He obviously had no intention of doing anything further and he then left. I called the Company again and spoke to the manager, Garon. He said he would speak to Steve and make sure that he resolved the problem. Despite having contacted the Company again asking for Garon to call me, I have heard nothing further.Desired Settlement: After having paid $220, which is obviously more than enough for this type of job, I would like the job to be finished properly so there are no more leaks or I believe my money should be reimbursed to me.
