Review: While searching for a value priced smog check in the penny saver I came across an advertisement for smog tech. I noticed the ad was not a coupon and offered an out the door price of 28.24 with out a disclaimer. I had cut out tge adcertisement for reference when I got there. When I arrived I was quoted nearly 70 dollars. I had forgotten the advertisement at home, and through my explication of the ad and being told they were unaware of such an ad I would only get a small discount that left me just under the 50 dollar mark. Reluctantly I agreed as the distance traveled and costs associated with going back home to retrieve the ad would cost almost as much as the current savings. My vehicle failed the smog check due to to far advanced timing. I was given some advice and told I would have to pay full price for a retest after the adjustments were made. I clarified full price ment the same supposed just undrr 50 dollar discounted pricing I was offered for not having the means to prove my claim of their advertised pricing. He said yes the price would again be offered for my retest. After research online I discovered my vehicle had to put into a timing mode to properly adjust the timing. The instructions I read on multiple audio repair forums instructed to shut off engine when un hooking and 're hooking the wire that provide the timing mode, however when it came time for then to verify the settings they did not st off the engine. Web the wire was disconnected the entire died and would not restart. The vehicle would not produce spark. The distributor had been fried, and had to be replaced. Unlikely this was a coincidence. They didn't charge me but they did refuse to give me a copy of the work order they had my sign after stating why do you need it we didnt even touch the car.... Also they refused to duplicate my pricing as Promised.Desired Settlement: I would like the cost of the replacement part needed to get the vehicle running again, however I did incur other costs for transportation and time wasted, not to mention the advertised price of the smog that lured me to their shop in the first place, which they didnt honor or admit knowledge of.

I went to this business because I needed a "STAR" Smog on my car and they had a coupon in Pennysaver for "$25 out the door". When I went in I gave him the coupon and my DMV papers and he acknowledged the coupon and went outside to my car. He came back and had me sign the work order and went back out. Came in and said it passed. I was not feeling well, I am on oxygen with a lung disease and suffer from asthma. I gave him my card and left. I got down the road and realized I didn't even look at the receipt and I stopped and pulled it out. I was charged $40.00. I called him up and asked why he said because my car was older than 2001. I said but I gave you a coupon and you accepted it he said but you signed the work order and I said because I trusted you when you accepted the coupon and you didn't say it wasn't valid. His reply was jut well you signed the work order. The thing is if he would have explained that to me I would have still had them do it and been perfectly happy with the service. I feel like I was duped and would never go back there.

Review: Went in for a smog and failed. After paying $31.75 for the service they recommended I pay an extra 60$ plus parts to pass. Knowing I had just done a tune up, I decided to take my car to another smog place for a second check, since it would be cheaper than the labor and parts that smogtech wanted, and I passed with no problems. The other smog place even wondered how my car had failed. I feel like this business is purposely failing peoples smog and asking for more money as a scam and should be investigated.Desired Settlement: I would like the $31.75 I paid for the first smog back since I had to go pay for another one after they failed me.
