They charge you when no services were rendered. They trump up charges that are completely unneeded. Very unprofessional. We have continued to have problems at Snappy Lube in Canton. Unknowingly, another family member went there for what should have been a simple inspection that turned to a nightmare. I personally had bad experience there last year and felt cheated when I was forced to buy new wiper blades that I knew weren't needed. I gave in cause I felt I was over a barrel. I ask for old ones though, and I'm glad I did because they fit my husband's truck and they have passed inspection two years since without a problem.Today my daughter went there and they turned it down because window tint was too dark. The same vehicle has always passed inspection. Why now? She since learned about my problem with them and put them on blast on social media only to find that dozens of friends have had similar or worse experiences. They even charged her thirty dollars and refused to refund her money after inspection was declined. I just can't believe that is legal. I am currently working to try to get some coverage with the local news station. Dozens have agreed to interviews. Hopefully by means of news and social media we can stop this from happening to more people. I'm even more outraged when more people come forward with their stories. Is the company aware of the incompetence and lack of professionalism? They couldn't complete my inspection last year because the cigarette lighter didn't work. They told me to go home and get owner's manual because they didn't know where fuse box was located. I drove straight to another inspection station and they stuck a fuse in and it was inspected immediately. But, at least they only charged me for the wiper blades I didn't need, unlike my daughter whom they charged thirty bucks for nothing. Surprisingly, from the stories, it's not just women either. However, elderly people seem to have more problems.I don't know if this email will accomplish anything. I can say I have made several attempts to find owner or corporate and it seems secret. I feel very guilty that I didn't persue this sooner as I could have possibly saved some innocent people from being swindled. Sincerely,[redacted] Desired SettlementThe very least they can do is refund the money they charged when no services were rendered.Business Response I would like to start by saying we do not charge for services and then not perform them. We want every customer to leave satisfied and try to resolve any issues timely and professional. The inspection in question was done properly per dmv rules and guidelines. When doing a state inspection we are required to pull the car in and then perform the inspection either pass or fail. We are not allowed to inspect or tell the customer of potential failing items in the parking lot per dmv.The customers vehicle in question had window tint that was to dark to pass according to dmv guidelines set forth by the state listed in inspection manual. When the customers husband came back in we called the dmv and let them verify to the customer on the phone we were doing exactly as we are supposed to do. I spoke with the customer on the phone and explained exactly everything to him of how the dmv requires us to perform inspections. If the customer takes the vehicle to some other place of buisness and they pass the inspection knowing the tint is to dark that station takes the risk and responsibility of doing an illegal inspection and that would be on them. In closing I understand the frustration of paying for a failed inspection but again we did exactly as we were supposed to do according to dmv guidelines and rules. Consumer Response My vehicle didn't pass inspection at the same location for a bad fuse for the cigarette lighter. They couldn't replace the fuse because they couldn't locate the fuse box. I left there and drove to another inspection station and they promptly replaced the fuse and the inspection then passed. The only difference was that I didn't have to pay at Snappy Lube when the inspection failed. I only paid at second inspection station when fuse was replaced and inspection passed. Of course, I did have to pay at Snappy Lube for wiper that I didn't need. That was definitely a rip off because the old ones are still in working order on my husband's truck. My complaint is paying for a failed inspection.
