Snazzy Jazzy's Pet Salon

Took my dog to Snazzy Jazzy's for a full grooming. I was appalled with the outcome which caused pain/injury to my dog & went to the Vet next day.
On 7/31/2018, I took my dog Pearl, a Golden Retriever, to Snazzy Jazzy's Pet Salon for a full grooming service at 8 am and the next day I took her to the Vets. Reason I went to Snazzy Jazzy was my groomer was getting married and moving to another state and I had to find a new groomer. Ellie, the owner, came out and asked me to sign a piece of paper which I did. She also said all her groomers had at least 10 years experience. Immediately after, the groomer Candace came out and took Pearl without greeting my dog or checking her fur especially behind her ears and around the tail. She also didn't check her teeth, nails or inside her ears which most groomers do. I left the salon and picked her up later that day. When I got home, I looked at my dog Pearl and was appalled. They shaved most of her belly and back hind legs right under her tail which cause razor burns a couple sores. She was shaved so much on her tail that she was actually raw! They shaved all her tail feathering which is a great look/asset for a Golden and in addition, her ears were not cleaned or groomed as there was plenty of ear wax still visible. Her nails were clipped terribly and were very jagged. It was obvious that she was not feeling well as she just layed on the kitchen floor the rest of the evening and a few weeks after. They shaved her which left razor burns on her entire ***, tail and stomach. I took her to the Veterinarian the next day. She was examined and prescribed EnteDerm to treat the raw areas on her skin. It had to be applied twice a day for 3 - 5 days. Also, the vet trimmed her nails again to fix the jagged edges that were left by the groomer. Pearl was miserable for a few weeks. She had no interest in going outside and playing which she usually loves to do and instead, just laid around inside and barely moved.

Golden Retrievers have a top silky coat and an undercoat that protects them. It keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They should never be shaved unless there is some critical underlying medical reason to do so. Any reputable groomer should know this about this breed of dog. Shaving can cause hot spots and make the dog susceptible to bug bites and disease and can also ruin their coat.

I contacted the owner, Ellie and informed her that I wasn't satisfied with her service. I explained to her that I had to take Pearl to a veterinarian to treat for her raw skin. When I asked her why the salon shaved a Golden Retriever, she said she advised the groomer to shave her because she had mats. My dog was very well kept and she did not have mats nor did she have hot spots. Yes, they shaved her big time but never groomed her, never cleaned her ears nor groomed any other part of her body. After several emails/phone calls, I couldn't resolve this matter with Ellie. Madison from her insurance company called me and I tried to work with her but I wasn't able to resolve this matter with her either. I feel I should get a full refund of the grooming bill and tip totaling $120 in addition to the vet bill which was $182.80. I have pictures of my dog's injuries (raw skin that required treatment by a vet) as well as the bill from the veterinarian.

I have taken Pearl to be groomed at the same place on the following dates: 1/18/2017, 4/15/2017, 6/26/2017, 9/9/2017, 11/28/2017, 2/25/2018 and 5/3/2018. I have never had any issues with other salons and Pearl has always been returned to me looking beautiful and without any issues.

I have pictures and a vet and groomer that can attest that my dog never had hot spots or mats. Let me know what you want from me. Thank you.
