SNE Construction Reviews (2)

Took many shortcuts when building house. Stole unused materials once house complete. Did not run heat to upstairs addition, but put in vents to make it look like it was done. Not quality work, at all! Took 6 months longer than original projection.

Review: On July 15, 2013, we had [redacted], the owner of SNE Construction begin putting a steel-metal roof on our log home. The temperatures were sweltering (in the 90's and high humidity), and we offered them an option to wait until the weather was a bit cooler (which was the following week). Instead they insisted on doing it then. Despite that, things went well, and they were polite and professional and cleaned up any and all messes from taking the shingles off our home. The installation was completed in three (3) days and it looks good and we have had the benefit of keeping the loft cooler. We did not have any problems when it rained after the new roof was on. The first sign of trouble was when the snow started to melt. Our old roof (even though the shingles were beginning to blister and had moss growing on them) NEVER leaked. Our home is 1/2 log outside and 1/2 log inside with the perimeter walls being 1/2 log. We have numerous water spots on our log walls, knotty pine ceiling and had wall outlets where water was running in them as well. To be real honest, it was a nightmare and our walls, ceiling cannot be as easily fixed as a typical home can. [redacted] was out on Jan. 2, 2014 and shoveled the snow that he could reach off the roof. Then on May 11 & 12 (2014) we left a message and it wasn't until May 13, 2014, that [redacted] called and then came to our home on May 14. He checked the seams, caulked the lower sections and foamed the valley. He said he would be back in a few weeks to put heat tape in the gutter area. We have left a message on each of the following days and still have not heard anything from [redacted] @ SNE Construction: July 1, 8 and 14. At this point, we want some resolution and want the job done the right way so that this coming winter we do not have the same leaking issues again. For the first time ever (since our home was built in 2003) we had water in the basement. We would like to have the heat tape done and would like a refund of some sort. We paid a total of $8,650.00 for everything and that was a big amount of money for us (seeing as my husband had just retired). We are more than at our wits end with both [redacted] and his company (SNE Construction) and want something done about it.Desired Settlement: Requesting $2,000.00 refund. This has caused grief and we are going to have to do fixing up (which will include purchasing stain for our log home interior perimeter walls) and there is no excuse why when we paid so much money that a roof that is properly installed should leak.
