Snyder's Auto Sales, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I went to Snyder's 11/14/13 to test drive a 2006 Nissan Titan. I mentioned that the brakes sounded funny & the salesman said the truck had been sitting for a few weeks and might have a little rust; that "their guy" checked the entire truck and the brakes were fine. I returned to Snyder's the following Tues 11/19/13 to purchase the truck for $18,500. I brought it home and continued to hear a grinding noise from the brakes, but trusted what I was told. I received a phone call from Snyder's saying I had forgotten to sign the check, so I had to drive back to Harrisonburg the following day to sign it. I asked again about the brakes since they were getting worse, and was assured again that there were no problems with the truck and the brakes were good. I live in a mountainous area and only travel to town a few times per week. On 12/6/13, I dropped the truck at a Nissan dealership for a used car inspection, and specifically to check the brakes. At this time I had only put 200 miles on the truck. They discovered several problems with the truck, one of which was severely worn brake pads and severely pitted, rusted rotors all the way around the truck. They said that it was very dangerous to be driving, and that the truck should never have passed inspection. They recommended I go back to Snyder's and request some assistance since I just purchased the truck. I tried repeatedly to get Snyder's to assist me in some way, but they basically said it is my truck and my problem. I asked them more than once about the brakes when I test drove and again when I purchased the truck and was assured by them that the brakes were sound, when in fact they were severely deteriorated and dangerous. The repairs for the brakes cost me $870.00. They guarantee well serviced vehicles and customer satisfaction. They should at least pay for the shoddy brakes. I also have to pay for $2000 worth of other repairs related to axles and bearings a seals and exhaust problems. I am only asking for assistance with the brakes.Desired Settlement: I request the Snyder's Auto Sales Inc. reimburse me for the cost of replacing the brakes and rotors at a cost of $870.00.

Response:

Please let me say I am sorry for Ms [redacted]s problems she is having with her purchase with us , We try very hard try to make our customer happy. Just let you know the truck in question was driven by my son then looked at by our mechanic then taken to [redacted] to be inspected . We do not inspect our own vehicles . The truck was fine . She came and looked at it twice and decided to purchase it . If she had any question at all she certainly could have had it looked at by a mechanic ,no problem . When she did the paper work( I did the work) nothing was said to me ... Ms [redacted] email me a message later saying all this work needed to be done on the truck , I said she should have bought the truck back so we could have looked at it also to please give me a call . She never has . Also Ms [redacted] has a GWC warranty which is 90 day or 4500miles and no warranty with us . I explained the warranty very plainly when she bought the vehicle so I do not understand why the anger . I asked to see the parts and was told if I wanted to see them I could come there .. I do not feel we have done anything wrong or owe Ms grant any money . Thank you , Deborah Snyder Snyder's Auto Sales, Inc.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I do not feel that the response from Ms. Snyder is acceptable or that is addresses my main complaint. She repeatedly fails to accept the fact that I inquired about the brakes multiple times before purchasing the truck, and was told by her staff that the brakes were good and there was nothing to worry about. The 90 day warranty does not cover maintenance issues so the warranty has been of no help whatsoever. I did offer for Ms. Snyder to send someone to my location to look at the truck, since I live over an hour from her location and have already driven there 3 times. But she never responded to me. I have a copy of my receipt of payment, which I can scan and email. The entire cost of repairs cost me over $2000, however I am only asking for reimbursement for the brake; all 4 rotors and sets of pads had to be replaced because they were so rusted, pitted and deteriorated. Again, I mentioned the noisy brakes and asked if they were OK multiple times, to both her salesman [redacted] and another gentleman named Mr. Snyder. And again, they both told me the brakes were good and no problems to worry about.
