Soapy Joe's Car Wash & Auto Detailing Reviews (8)

Mr. [redacted] visited our location at 1999 Sweetwater Rd in his modified 1970’s Dodge Ramcharger.  He requested an interior and exterior detail of his vehicle to be hand washed since he did not have the convertible top affixed to it.  We moved the vehicle to the hand washing station and...

proceeded to clean the exterior of the vehicle. After completing the cleaning of the exterior our employee tried to start the vehicle via the aftermarket push button starting switch, that we were told to use. The switch was improperly wired with no fuses or relays and it had failed. Since safety was not taken into consideration by whomever wired and installed the aftermarket switch for Mr. [redacted] it, it resulted in his vehicle continuously trying to start and ended with the vehicle backfiring raw fuel through the top of the engine. If the vehicle would have had a breather element or housing, like is affixed from the factory, the fuel and backfire would have been contained into this area. However, that was not the case. The backfire ignited the raw fuel and there was a short and small fire that resulted in damage to Mr. [redacted]’s  hood. Our staff took every precaution possible to avoid any issues as this vehicle. Not only had this been a safety issue for our staff, the vehicle was within close proximity to our multiple fuel pumps on site which would have resulted in catastrophic loss. We opened the hood, smothered the flame, sprayed water into the engine compartment to avoid any additional flare ups and unwired the ignition switch to ensure nobody else could be potentially injured.    Our Operations Manager, [redacted], personally called Mr. [redacted] to inform him of the incident. Upon his arrival on site he was immediately refunded the money he had paid for the services, since they were not able to be completed. After a lengthy discussion and conversation with Mr. [redacted] the day of the issue, he was informed multiple times that we would not accept any liability in this, as the issue was created by multiple faulty alterations to his vehicle. Our liable board posted at our sites reads, "Car wash is not responsible for damage due to vehicles altered from factory construction". Mr. [redacted] was not accepting of the decision and asked his insurance company to contact us. At which time [redacted] explained the same information to his insurer, that since we had only done as instructed by Mr. [redacted] and had no negligence that we would deny his claim for repair. [redacted] personally visited with Mr. [redacted] multiple times and told him that the fault of the damage was whomever wired his vehicle incorrectly.  Since we had not performed any mechanical repairs or modifications to his vehicle, that we would continue to decline fault for his vehicle repairs. In a sign of good faith and customer service, [redacted] extended an offer to provide him with a limited amount of complimentary washes, to keep him as a customer. At which time Mr. [redacted] refused.  We have gone above and beyond our abilities to try and satisfy Mr. [redacted]’s concerns. We simply cannot accept the liability for the damages caused to his vehicle due to improper safety equipment not being installed. Thank you, --[redacted]Controller

The BAR closed this case, as we were not at fault for any damages on this vehicle. --[redacted]Controller Soapy Joe’s, Inc.619 [redacted] office

I went to Soapy Joe's on the morning of July 7, 2017. I bought the monthly membership and proceeded threw the car wash. After I finished wiping down my car my hood was still dirty so I decided to go threw again. This time I did a quick wipe and my mom notice their are scratches on the identical on both sides of the car. So I drove back and filed an incident report. The attendant show me a signed about if I left the the facility. They dismiss all claims regardless if it's their fault. How is anybody suppose to read that sign when they spray soap all over your wind shield. They even have cameras of before you enter the car wash and after you exit. So they refused to pay for the damages even though video evidence clearly shows they were at fault. On top of that they tried to bribe me with 40 and 50 dollars gift cards. So tomorrow I will call my Insurance and I'm going to email Michael Turko from KUSI News the Turko Files. Spread the word this cheap 10 dollar car wash is not worth it when your hit with damages. Whats the point of having a video camera system if they won't take responsibility for damages to customers car. Now I realized why this business is not in the Revdex.com

Review: I paid for a car wash on 8/24/14. After completion, I noticed that the driver's side rear window chrome was lifted away from the car. I notified attendant; he moved car to another area; another individual tried gluing the chrome with super glue. With the pressure of his hands the glue did not adhere the chrome in all areas to the car door. I told him as I watched but he was pulled away by another employee to go back to work. I asked what am I to do now...I was told to go inside and file an incident report. I filed the document and was told I would hear something within a week. I left for my home. When I got home I tried to open the rear driver-side door but could not open it. The window black molding was glued under the chrome window frame. I drove back to the car wash to amend the incident report (1:38 pm, 8/24/14). I drove by the car wash on 8/27/14 to follow up on the incident report and was told that it would be approx. 1 week to hear anything. I was told that the report goes to an office in El Cajon, CA. I called on 9/9/14 to follow up but learned that the contact person was recently married and now on a honeymoon for 2 weeks. I am concerned with water getting beneath the chrome and fully lifting off as well as not being able to open the door for use. Help!Desired Settlement: I would like the chrome repaired properly at my car dealership. I do not trust the workmanship of the carwash facility.

On the day of February, 07, 2015 I have dropped off my vehicle to get a detailed job, in which I have done several times before. Upon this occasion on February 7, I left my vehicle to get the detail, which in about three hours later I received a call stateing that there were problems with starting my vehicle. As I appear I notice that my vehicle hood was open all my vehicles; come to find out some kind away they had caught my vehicle on fire. As the operation manager [redacted], approached me with $100 bill and his busines card saying that they are not responsible for the incident; but with his card I would be eligible for credit. I stated to him this is ridiculous I would like to have your insurance claim so I can report this incident. At this point Mr. [redacted] refuse to give me soapy Joe's Incorporated insurance information. I then had call my insurance company which is [redacted] insurance to try to retrieve soapy Joe's insurance information in that matter on February 9. My insurance company had tried twice to get soapy Joe's insurance information from [redacted] in both conversations from my insurance company [redacted], [redacted] refused to provide information for the insurance provider of soapy Joe's car wash. I then next went to the national city Police Department to file a complain against soapy Joe's. I spoke with officer Cpl. [redacted] badge number [redacted], and he informed me that I should report this incident to the Revdex.com because it is a civil matter. As a citizen I am trying to do everything within the law and I need your help with this matter so this type of incident would not happen to no other citizen. I am doubtful if they have insurance or for some reason Mr. [redacted] refuse to give this information. Revdex.com Would you please look into this matter for me, thank you very much!

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like for soapy Joe's car wash, to pay for the damages to my vehicle and to reveal the insurance provider information thank you very much!

Review: Date of Service: 7/16/2015

They were supposed to change the oil and top off my fluids (Coolant, Windshield wiper fluid, power steering fluid). They performed the job and even stated on the receipt that they topped off the fluids. Next day I drive to work and then come out to go get food and my car wouldn't start. I attempted getting a jump, assuming the issue was with the battery but that didn't work. Got the car towed to my mechanic at Express Tires Auto Service Center on 7/17/2015. On 7/18/2015 when I go into to see what was wrong with my car, the first thing the mechanic said was that there was NO coolant in the car at all and that the motor is seized. The mechanic stated that it will cost approximately $3000 to repair the motor.Desired Settlement: I want Soapy Joe's to take care of the cost to repair my vehicle.

Review: I recently went to Soapy Joes car wash to have my oil changed, and my car washed. When I got there I had them change the differential oil, motor oil, hand wax the car, and clean the car. All in all it was roughly $200, and they said it would take 1.5 thru 2 hours. Services were rendered within the appropriate time frame. The car service turned out well in terms of the oil. For some reason they polished the windshield with wax, and it makes the windshield kind of blurry when sunlight hits it. We left and within 100 meters of Soapy Joes we turned around to have them rectify this issue. We pulled back in and the manager came up and spoke to us. We told him of the issues we had with the service, and he got his guys to attempt to fix it then and there. When they were doing this I looked around the car and noticed that the back of the car wasn't vaccuumed, and the rims were still dirty. They fixed both of these issues. They couldn't get the wax off the windshield, and eventually didn't say anything and just started working on other cars. We waited for another 10 minutes to see if they were going to work on it still, but they never came back. I asked the gentlemen if they were done, and he said "Yeah we can't fix that". This is not an acceptable answer to me being as I just spent $200 to get the car finished. When driving everything is a little distorted, and when sunlight hits it directly it's basically like looking through fog.Desired Settlement: I want that wax off my car's windshield. It's not safe to be driving into the sunlight with the car as is.
