People assume that we plug the car into a computer and it tells us what is wrong with the autoThis assumption is INCORRECTSohl's Service Center, Inc-goes to great lengths to explain to the customer the difference between diagnostics and repairWe asked this customer for two hours labor (at $per hour) to diagnose as many of her issues as we could, in that time frameAt that point, we called the customer and informed them of the issues we foundWe provided general estimates fer the following issues:- Replace driver window motor and/or regulator - $- $- Replace -YAW sensor damaged by customer if needed (stated by Jim the mechanic, the first mechanic the customer went to.)- Plug in -YAW sensor that was unplugged by another shop - $- Locate bad wheel speed sensor - no charge- If needed, front wheel bearing with sensor, parts and labor - $350- If needed, rear wheel bearing with sensor, parts and labor - $- If needed, front wheel bearing harness, each part and labor - $- Price on YAW sensor, part only - $267 During the first two beans, we also made repairs to the right power sliding door byfreeing up frozen cables, rusted hinges, cleaned bad electrical contacts and got the door working properlyWe also made all the same repairs to the left power sliding door, but were unable to get it to work properly without additional parts and laborWe also had indications of wiring problems with the stability control system. Total charge for the hour was $160.00. We told the customer that the priority repair was to locate and repair the wiring Thecustomer authorized us to complete this for an additional $ The bad wiring wasfound in the engine compartment, under the air box, at the rear of the engine Threewires were found bad and were repaired with three permanent wire connectors No wirewas required for this repair however parts did include three connectors and blackelectrical tape.Resolution: I indicated the location of the wire repair Customer should feel free to havethis inspected by another repair shop, at the customer's expenseInitially, diagnostic feeswere explained as above.Regards, David S*ASE Master Certified Technician, Certified Advance Level Technician,State of Ohio licensed Echeck Repair TechnicianPresident, Sohl's Service Center, Inc
