Solar Creations, Inc. Reviews (1)

I paid to have my windows tinted at Solar Creations. I am not satisfied with the service, and I would like a refund. On May 8, 2005 I paid to have my windows tinted at Solar Creations, with [redacted] Automotive Film. After getting the windows tinted and waiting the 3 days for them to dry, I noticed there was a tare in the tint on the drivers side, at the bottom of the tint right above the window gasket. I took my vehicle back so the tint could be replaced. After waiting another 3 days for the film to dry I rolled down my window and noticed the film had not been put on the same way as the passenger side. I spoke with the owner about making my passenger look like my driver side, and he wants to charge me to do so. My windows should have been done identical in the first place, and I do not feel I should have to pay to have my tint corrected. Desired SettlementI would like a refund in the amount of $112.87 plus $50.00 for the amount I will have to pay to have the tint taken off.Business Response The initial complaint from the customer was a small tear in the bottom of the driver's window, below the gasket, that normally would not cause any issues. However, our policy is to address any customer's initial concerns without question. Upon completing the driver's window and returning the vehicle to the customer, I personally informed him that the driver's window film was installed to the top of the window, which was in fact different than the passenger side. The customer then stated, "Well you know I'm going to want to have the passenger side redone to match that." I then informed him that I would be glad to pull it back around while he was still there and trim it back to match the passenger side. He said, "No, don't worry about it, I'm sure it will be okay." A week and a half later, he scheduled an appointment to have the passenger side redone to match the driver side. At that time, we gave him the option of trimming the driver side back to match the passenger side at NO CHARGE or redoing the passenger side to match the driver's for a charge of $25 to cover materials since this was not a warranty claim. The customer's demeanor immediately changed from neutral to an aggressive tone of voice demanding that we do a non warranty job at no cost to him. I then reiterated that I would be glad to match the windows, free of charge, simply by trimming back the driver side. We had this conversation multiple times over a 2 day period with each time ending in the customer's demeanor changing to an aggressive tone of voice and not entertaining the free option at all. The original cost of doing one window with the product the customer chose is $57.50 plus tax so as you can see by offering to redo a single window for a non warranty issue at a rate of $25 barely covers the expenses of products that it would take to do that job. Consumer Response The small tear in the film was not under the gasket or I would not have been able to see it. A tear in window tint is not normal, and when I made a complaint about it the owner says, "you want it redone for that". Yes I did want it repaired because, as I said that is not normal. I also asked the owner to redo the window just like my passenger side because I wanted them to look the same. The owner/installer took it upon himself to do my windows differently, and is asking me to pay to have my passenger side done like he redid my driver side. All the owner/installer had to do is install the film like he had done the first time without the tare at the bottom. I never became aggressive, but I was upset to receive such poor customer service. Upon having my window done a second time the owner says, "ok I iced out your driver side, and I stated that now my windows are not going to look the same. He then said "well you have to wait until they dry, you cant roll it down now". He never said anything about pulling it around to trim it back, at that time. I never yelled or used any negative language when I was voicing my concerns; however, the owner/installer used negative language twice. Asking me "are we going to do the dag on window or not", and again asking me "are we going to do the freakin window". After being treated so poorly as a customer, I do not feel comfortable taking my vehicle back there to have anything done. Final Business Response Mr. [redacted], We feel as if we have been more than reasonable trying to handle your concerns. As from the begining we are still willing to correct your drivers window at NO COST to you. You have never given us the opportunity to properly address your issue that you are writing about here. Short of that chance our hands are tied. Again please note we have NEVER said that your only option is to pay to have your passenger window replaced. That was just one option if you liked the way the film reached the top of the glass as it does on the drivers side. We have always, from the point of returning your vehicle, offered to trim back the drivers to match passenger side. We welcome the proper chance to correct the drivers window at no cost to you.
