Solid Rock Masonry and Paving

Cant give negative stars but would. Do NOT do business with Solid Rock Masonry. Mr. Hairston has no intention of paying his bills. He has been promising us that money will be available to make payment "in two days" since 8/29. It is always the same excuse of "money is on the way" "money is being held by bank" "I deposited a check that will be available." Always returned to us as "insufficient funds" We have contacted Mr. Hairston multiple times a week since the end of August only to be met with the same lie over and over. Getting no where with him.

I am a hotel manager in Chesapeake . Mr. Hairston( Solid Rock Masonry) owes the hotel $2,000.00 for stays and have been giving me and my staff the run around for the past month. about paying and sending a check that was never sent. or coming this past Wednesday to pay and today is Thursday. and still no sign of Mr. Hairston or any response. I have had my lawyers draw up a legal action against this company and Mr. Hairston. but wanted to let any other hotel or guest that need work done by this man,to find another company Mr. Hairston is a liar and a cheat, he is not a man of his word.

Review: I entered into an contractual agreement with Solid Rock as of 3/2015. I spoke to one of the owners whose name is Mr. Andrew Hairston. He contacted me based upon an ad I had wrote up on [redacted] looking for a professional contractor to build a 16x20 masonry shed building on a piece of property in southwestern Va. I responded back to him and we made an agreement via contractual and verbal. I have all documents as well to back up my statements. I agreed also to meet with him up at the building inspectors office of that county to get the permit paperwork done also. I gave him a downpayment in which he requested for the project to be done. I also made a minor update to it as well on the height on the front side of the building to be built. I sent him another payment for that work to be done as well. Both of these payments were sent to Mr. Hairston via my debit card using Paypal. The reason I went that route was because I am a truck driver by trade and I don't get in very often to meet with folks face to face. Plus, Paypal is a fairly secure site. I asked Mr. Hairston to keep me updated to his work and progress. He would tell me weekly that he was either heading up to the property to get some measurements, hauling equipment up to the property to get started on the footers or just just his general work on the project. He never started on the project nor did he ever return to the property after I showed him the location of it after I initially left the building inspection office with him. After so many times of hearing him state that he was starting on it , I decided to go up to the property myself which was on July 4th 2015 because I had the time off away from my job. I found out that Mr. Andrew Hairston nor his father Mr. Charles Hairston, his business partner had not done any work at all and had been telling me lies the whole time just to cheat me out of my money.Desired Settlement: I told him on July the 4th and 5th of 2015 after I had went up to the property and seen for myself that the work had not been started at all that I wanted a refund. Mr. Andrew Hairston stated that he would get started on it after I left back out of town for work. I told him no thank you and I needed a refund. He agreed to then give my money back to refund me for the work that he did not do but he has failed to give me back my money. Mr. Hairston owes me $4000.00. I have more receipts if needed.

I received a text message from Mr. Andrew Hairston earlier today saying that he didnt have the funds to refund my money. He said he had to put a check into his bank account and wait for it to clear. He now says the bank put a hold on it and he would get it to me on Thursday the 20th.
