We purchased two *** horizontal garage door systems from Solido Designs. The order was placed in July 2018 after extensive conversations with the owner, Tyler M. At no point did Tyler tell us that this German made system would need significant modifications to function in the United States and that these modifications would take away from the sleek modern design of the profiles. We had to wait as the door system shipped from Germany to Solido Designs and then to us. Once our contractor, who has 35 years of experience was able to schedule the install, it was the end of December. He installed the first door and noticed an issue with the motor and track system. It was not compatible with the *** Door system and not the same as shown in the instruction book. He contacted Tyler and was not able to get Tyler to understand. When we arrived home from vacation, my husband and our contractor scheduled a *** with Tyler in January. Tyler had issues with his *** and we had to make it a phone call. Tyler requested photos of the issue and we sent them that day. He then sent us a laundry list of modifications that we would need to make including using a table saw and such. Equipment not needed as shown in the instruction booklet. We did not feel comfortable with this and asked instead that he send the correct pieces. We then had to wait two more months for more parts to come from Germany. Instead of sending for the second time the motor that is shown on the website and in the videos, he sent two more profiles and had sawed off most of the sleek design element. The edges are so sharp, paint is missing, and it is just not what we paid for. In addition a, the motor and rail are still not the correct ones for this system, which we later learned from Tyler that the ones advertised cannot be sold in the US at this time. We have requested a refund several times and after receiving a very threatening letter from Tyler's wife Amy, we have filed a dispute with our credit card company.

I am willing to accept the $800 for the labor part of my claim only and will continue to hold ***/ Solido Designs liable for the $8003 cost of the garage door system they sold us. I will continue to seek a refund for the balance of $8,003 as they are liable under the consumer protection act as outlined below:Regardless of any terms noted or any opinions, Solido Designs along with any other business in the state of Virginia MUST adhere to the guidelines protecting consumers and cannot refuse us a refund if they have deceived us. Their egregious behavior to mislead us and sell us a system that had never been tested to make sure it would work for our needs, as advertised, leaves them liable for not only the cost of the garage system, but also for the cost of our contractor which without having hired him, we would not have known this system could not work. Mr M further violated the consumer protection act by making modifications to the system, which significantly altered the original manufacturer's design and is trying to force us to accept this without acknowledging this was no longer what we had paid for or what we wanted. The design was key to what made us chose this system to begin with. Fact- On their website, Solido Designs advertises the *** Garage Door System. They include a video to show how the product works and looks. Mr M, President of Solido Designs also emailed this video to us. This violates #8 and #14 noted below. https://solidodesigns.com/*** Fact - as outlined below, the modifications that Mr M and Solido Designs either asked us to make or made themselves puts them in direct offense of the consumer protection act. #1,5,6, and 8 as noted below. Fact - by removing a significant part of the design and not supplying the motor that was advertised on their website and in the instructions provided, they violated both #6 and #8 noted below. Fact - by claiming they do not give refunds, and switching the products that they shipped us for what we paid for, they violated #1. § 59.1-200. Prohibited practices.A. The following fraudulent acts or practices committed by a supplier in connection with a consumer transaction are hereby declared unlawful:1. Misrepresenting goods or services as those of another;5. Misrepresenting that goods or services have certain quantities, characteristics, ingredients, uses, or benefits;6. Misrepresenting that goods or services are of a particular standard, quality, grade, style, or model;8. Advertising goods or services with intent not to sell them as advertised, or with intent not to sell at the price or upon the terms advertised.11. Misrepresenting by the use of any written or documentary material that appears to be an invoice or bill for merchandise or services previously ordered;14. Using any other deception, fraud, false pretense, false promise, or misrepresentation in connection with a consumer transaction;It would be in the best interest of all parties to avoid having to go to court as we would be entitled to triple damages and court costs. I will release Solido Designs completely only once they refund the total of $8,803 prior to any legal action. Otherwise, I have no choice but to proceed with recovering triple damages as too much of my time has been spent on this and they just don't seem to understand their wrong doing.
