Sonoda Plumbing Inc. Reviews (3)

Revdex.com of Hawaii, Inc.[redacted]Dear [redacted]:This customer [redacted] has her story incorrect from the start of her complaint and continues with statements that were never said, perhaps she is...

confusinga conversation she had with another company.  [redacted] called our office explaining that she wanted her dispsoal and kitchen faucet changed as well as her toilet repaired that was running.  She asked for an estimate if she were to supply ALL of the parts,we confirmed with her that she wanted to provide all the parts (since most people choose not to provide all the miscellaneous parts if they provide parts at all) including the flexes for the faucet and toilet repair parts and she said yes. We informed her the parts for the toilet would most likely be a ballcock and flapper if the toilet was running.  The estimate for only the labor to change the disposal was $125. The estimate for only the labor for the kitchen faucet replacement and repair of the toilet if it were just the ballcock and flapperneeding to be changed, was $225. [redacted] approved these amounts and scheduled for the appointment  for later that day and then asked us what we normally charge which we told her $95 an hour. The plumber arrived and removed her old faucet and proceeded to try to install her provided faucet but found that her faucet would not sit correctly with her kitchen set up and advised her she should get a different type of faucet if she wanted it to sit correctly.  When asked what brand the plumber recommended,he replied Delta,American Standard and Price Pfister (the plumber did not reply that he only knows how to Install these 3 brands of faucets, that is just ridiculous).    While [redacted] went to get a new faucet, the plumber continued his work and changed her disposal and repaired the toilet, using our provided ballcock and flapper. [redacted] then returned with her new faucet and the plumber installed it along with our provided flexes. At no time was there a discussion about the cost of the flexes.[redacted] was charged what was quoted to her $350 total, which she actually is supposed to be charged plus parts since she did not provide all the parts as she had stated she would and the estimate of $350 was based on her providing all parts.Best regards,[redacted]Sonoda Plumbing, Inc.[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Who in their right mind asks what they "normally charge". They ask what they will be charged.
When I called, I was told that it was $95 an hour.  She gave me dollar amounts, of which I did ask how she arrived at the number, to which she replied it was calculated by the $95 an hour. (She estimated the time it would take because she said she didn't know if he would be able to install the items easily, to which I responded it was the same make and model of the previous version for the disposal, so shouldn't be an issue) Why would I ask what they "normally charge", all I need to know is what they are charging me. (Which was $95 an hour.) And during my last conversation with her, when I asked for the break down of the charges, I was first told I agreed to pay the amount, to which I told her, I agreed to pay the $95 an hour which I was quoted, with the estimated time frame.  To which she starts talking about 4 hours of work. There was only an hour and a half, of which the last half was because the plumber could not install the faucet provided. Also during our last conversation where she then started back tracking to "I have to talk to [redacted]", and never called me back. (though after this, for about a week or more, I did hear the phone ring a number of times through out the day, but no one ever left a message. Or when my mother picked up the phone they would just hand up.)
Also, I never asked [redacted] what company he could recommend as a replacement for a faucet. He started mumbling about how he didn't know the company I had purchased, needed to look at the instructions, which after the first few times he reread them, I took the instructions to glance over it, at which point he asked to see it again. Mumbling about whether or not to use putty. (the instructions just had the bolts to tighten, and then the water hoses to connect) That he was only familiar with three brands, which he mentioned - all while trying to install the original faucet. After "trying to install the faucet, where he then shows me that there's a large gap (2 inches - as the faucet was not sitting "flush") he tells me that my sink is too thin, and the faucet can't sit flush against the sink. Which is strange, but after watching him trying to install it, just went with the flow. And he tells me that he only knows Delta, American Standard, and one other, which he said would cost more than what I had originally purchased. (which according to the letter she sent is Price Pfsiter) I never asked him what he could install, as until than, I thought a plumber could install any basic/standard appliance. But went to the store, to purchase Delta. I come home to him saying "cost more didn't it". When I told him no, he fussed w/the faucet, than installed it.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Dear [redacted]:Regarding ID [redacted] for work performed on 12/26/14, owner, Ms. [redacted], did not call us directly but had an existing client of ours call for her and request for an immediate appointment regarding a gasleak. We rearranged our schedule to accommodate Ms. [redacted] as a...

favor to this existing client. The only time our rate was discussed was when Ms.
[redacted] scheduled her appointment and was told our rate was $95, sheasked what the estimate would be for the job and was told we don't know what theproblem is so we can't give an estimate.  At no time was an estimate given to Ms. [redacted].Ms.[redacted]'s complaint is based solely on her "building contractor" friend's opinion who does not do plumbing repairs. He stated the plumbers worked slow but contrary,it was he who was slowing the plumbers down trying to talk story with them about his work on the mainland where he is from. This friend also made statements on what plumbers should carry in their vans at all times, such as these
galvanized fittings which after taking a closer look, were not even charged to Ms. [redacted], meaning her invoice should actually be more. All repairs were done at the request of Ms. [redacted],including digging up the area the Gas Company suggested to her might be the area in question, since she had no obvious exposed corroded areas, to having us wait for her while she confirmed with the Gas Company regarding the Information we had already given her that they will not come out immediately when called and she still requested that we change these fitting seven though we did not have the parts and it was not known whether this was the leak or not because the gas was turned off.  Ms. [redacted] also stated that we didn't carry any galvanized parts which is not true, we carry some galvanized parts and just did not have the ones needed to do her requested repairs.  Also, the spray bottle Ms. [redacted] is referring to does not aide us in finding the gas leak if the gas is shut off which in this  ase it was.Regardless, as stated in Ms. [redacted]'s complaint, she was well aware that by her asking us to change the fittings, that it may or may not fix her leak but states she was desperate since she was having company over and wanted to take that chance having us leave to get the parts to change the fittings. She was also not charged for the full amount of travel time to get the parts, but was only charged 15 minutes as a courtesy which she was told. To address Ms. [redacted]'s complaint of being overcharged is outrageous, as for one, she was never quoted anything and two, she was actuallyundercharged with less labor time charged to her for the retrieval of the parts and three not being charged for the actuallyparts.  Ms.[redacted] is clearly trying to get out of paying for her invoice that she requested from start to finish. Best  Regards,
GweWlyn S[redacted]
