Sonora Regional Medical Center Reviews (2)

Review: The hospital has contracted doctors and employees. You pay a copayment and then get charged another co pay for each person who sees you and/or reads your exams. I paid off and settled all debt when I moved out of state in August 2015. The hospital billing department said I was "all done and wouldn't hear from them. My husband and I were told we were paid in full for all services. I have recently been contacted by their collection agency stating I have more debt with them in collections that they have started charging since August. I have attempted to call SRMC on multiple occasions and they never return my calls. They told me I was settled and done and have again starting charging for services well over two years ago and have never informed me in the mail OR phone call and won't return calls and sends to collections. I have contacted my insurance company and was informed I received multiple "co payments" in one occurance and they billed incorrectly instead of to co insurance. I met all of my

Out of pocket expenses and was informed by insurance that it is unethical and against the law to bill me for things that is years old. This company is completely crooked and have misdiagnosed me on multiple occasions where the VP of the hospital had to get involved.Desired Settlement: I would like the hospital to uphold their settlement agreements and stop billing my husband and I. We have already settled with them and their collections agency and paid over 10,000$ to them in August of 2015 and were told all debt was cleared. I want nothing on my credit reports and I believe they should be investigated for the way their billing works.

Response:

We have reviewed all the complainant's family encounters with our facilities and have verified we are billing only the amount identified by their insurance company as their patient responsibility. Our records show no conversations where we indicated we would accept a settlement for their outstanding debt. Furthermore the collection agency, who is working these past due balances, show no notes for any type of settlement offer. It is the hospital's policy to expect payment in full for those balances identified by a patient's insurance company as the the patient's responsibility. We will be reaching out to the complainant providing documentation from their insurance company identifying their patient responsibility, payments we have received to date and the outstanding balances due. Please feel free to reach out yo me if you have any additional questions or concerns. Regards, [redacted]

Response:

payments were deducted from my account on 8/28/15. Also the settlement of a check by phone for $5000.00 came out of my account on 8/31/2015 made to grant mercantile for a settlement amount. Transactions by SRMC came out in a bundle for different amounts because they couldn't not do one amount and had to close each individual account. This was 10 months ago and I'm not sure who I spoke to. I know I spoke to a female at SRMC. Also grant mercintle had to call Sonora to speak to a manager for the settlement for my husband and I to be $5000.00. I want to say I spoke to someone named Julie but I cannot be positive. Please pull up phone records for that day because we even joked about "it's not like I don't like you but it's nice to never have to talk to you again." In return I was told "after today you won't hear from us again. Hope you enjoy PA!"

Please see attached letter. Sonora Regional Medical Center and the [redacted] family have come to a mutually agreed upon resolution.

Review: In January 2015, I began receiving invoices for services in November and December of 2014. I wasn’t too alarmed with that as I know sometimes it takes a while for insurance issues to be straightened out. However, in April I was still receiving invoices for the previous year, sometimes receiving two statements on the same day for THE SAME SERVICE. In August the same thing happens AGAIN. Then AGAIN in October. Then AGAIN in November AND Now AGAIN in January 2016 for services performed in APRIL of 2014. And, I have reason to believe there may be more of this delayed billing in the pipeline.

On top of all this, I changed plans beginning in 2015 and they have billed my old plan for services provided in 2015 under the new plan. Guess What? DENIED! More intervention required by me. All of this requires countless hours on my part to sort out what I really owe since at this juncture I’m certainly not going to take their word for it. Not to mention the havoc it reeks with our family budget. I have written the CEO and CFO asking for relief and resolution to no avail.Desired Settlement: In recognition of my time spent on this I request complete adjustment to zero balance on any invoices remaining from 2014 including the most recent (ref $262.20).
