Son's of Otis Auto Repair Shop, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: The son's of Otis Auto failed to repair my vehicial based upon a service estimate and repairs totaling $968.28. On the morning of February 21 2013 I tried to start my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder to go to work, but it wouldn't start. I did all of the regular problem analysis to determine if the problem was my battery or alternator and trying to start it. A year ago, I had a major tune up and a new starter. I called The Sons of [redacted] and asked if his shop repaired Nissans and he told me "Yes". I contined to tell Mr. Otis [redacted] my vehical problem at which time and he suggested I try to start it by giving it more gas again . At some point my engine became flooded. On Feb. 22, I made arrangements with my insurance company to tow it to the Sons of Otis Auto Repair. During the week of Feb 24, Mr. [redacted] contacted and informed me that there were several codes, but he determined an Idle Control valve was needed to repair my my vehical. I agreed to the repairs. MR Otis also informed me that he relaced spark plugs and wires. I did not authorize these repairss and questioned his actions since had that work done lin a major tune-up Feb 2012. Mr. [redacted] also informed me that the Idle Control valve part costed as much as a complete throttle body and told me that he orded that part to repair my vehicial.. On Feb 27, 2013, Mr. [redacted] informed that my vehicial was repaired and ready for pick-up. When I went to pick-up it up, I paid the repair costs of $968.28, then went to drive my Pathfinder but it wouldn't start. I informed Mr. [redacted] that my vehicial wouldn't start. He then got in it and pressed the excelorater several times to get it to start. He told me I just needed to drive it around and burn some gasoline, Upon his advice, I attempted to drive my vehicial, pressing the excelorator constanly, smelling of gasoline and misfiring all the way to my home. (from [redacted] to [redacted].) Following that day I returned my vehicial to Sons of Otis Auto for repaire three times due to problems with starting, misfiring while driving. Each time he said all he needed to do was to adjust the idle. After the third time of adjusting the idle I drove home and let my daughter drive the Pathfinder to vsit a friend. That night, March 13 2013, after 10 p.pm, my daughter caled me stranded because the vehical wouldn't start. The next day I called the Sons of Otis and told Mr. Otis, that I was having it towed to a Dealership because it was obvious he didn't know how to repair my vehicial. I ask Mr. [redacted] if he would be willing to refund me the cost of repairs out of the monies I already paid him. He said for me to let him Nthe Nissan Service cost when I found out. On March 14th the Nssan service department told me my vehicial needed a timing sensor and the total repair cost was $363.54. When I told Mr [redacted] the cost he said he would work with me. I told hime I would need the money the next day when I was to pick up my SUV. Then next day I call [redacted] and asked for the cost of the Nissan repair, and he replied in an angry tone that he would give me $150 and he woudln't give it too me until the following day. I was shocked and disappointed. I borrowed a friends car and went to the repair shop to try to negotiate with Mr. [redacted]. I explained that he didn't repair my vehicial and owed me a full refund, but all I wanted was enough to pay the Nissan Service repairs. He ignored me, saying nothing. In summary, the Sons of Otis Auto signed a payment document that guarenteed the auto repairs, but it. was not honored when my vehicial was not repaired after three attemps. For three weeks I had to drive an improperly repaired vehical to work, unsure if it would start and get me home safely. Eventually my Nissan Pathfinder stopped working again, leavng my daughter stranded after 10:00 at night on March 13. Entrusting the Sons of Otis Auto repair business to repair my vehicial was a bad decision. After paying for the repairs I still ended up driving a broken vehicial and missing more time from work after it brokedown again. My lesson learned is to always take your vehicial to the dealership. Nissan not only fixed my vehicial in a day, but they give me a loaner car. When a business does not provide a paid service, the professional response is to provide the customer a refund and take a loss.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is a full. refund in a cash or u.s. postal money order for services not rendered.
