They replaced my alternator a few months ago but the belt fell off today they charged me over $130.00 to replace something that should not have had toThey should not have charged my so much for replacing an alternator belt. Their work should have been gaurenteed. Also when I bought the car from sorels they told me that it would be a great car after they replaced the motor and other things. Well.I had to replace both front and back brakes and master cylinders hoses etc. Also the car broke down in Vermont and I had to extend my vacation a week because of a thermostatDesired SettlementRefund of cost for replacing the alternator beltBusiness Response we have resolved this matter.

In regards to a Kia Rio that supposedly needed an engine. Wanted 5 thousand for an engine...told it was not worth it...My 2002 Kia Rio died on the highway, was towed to Sorel's garage, they told me the belt hit the pistons and that it needed an engine. [redacted] told me they would look for one. Said one was located outside Ct would take three days has 58,ooo miles on it, would cost estimated [redacted] dollars. Told him I could not afford that...so now I am without a car for weeks. I just had tires put on the car, I really didn't know what to do...I couldn't move the car so I feel they took advantage of my situation, Told me it wasn't worth anything...couldn't leave it their so he told me he had a junk car dealer comming for other vehicles that he was getting rid of...I told him it was at least worth [redacted] dollars, he said no way, told me all I would get from the junk yard was [redacted]...that's what he gave me...I trusted these people, the told me this car was no good and that it was going to the junk yard..Well lo and behold saw my Kia on the road I would never have know it I didn't see the car right in front of my eyes. I was stunned...so did it really need any engine...I feel I was scammed and lied to..they took advantage of an elderly lady of [redacted] acted like they cared and were looking out for me..pretty sad...I just want some justice. I have posted their deceit on Facebook, and got may responses from people who they have taken advantage of...mostly woman....I hope that something can be done....thanks Desired SettlementI would like to get what would of been appropriate. The [redacted] dollars I originally asked for that they talked me out of with a song and dance about how its not running you won't get anything for it..no because they wanted it to sell. for a 2002 it only had 8500 miles on it and in good shape...Business Response Sorel's Garage, Inc. [redacted] XXXXXApril 9, 2014Revdex.com Complaint Dept.RE' Case #XXXXXX: Ms. [redacted]My name is [redacted] from Sorel's Garage in response to a complaint from [redacted]. I am first of all going to say that she is not telling the truth at ALL! So let's start from the beginning. [redacted]'s car broke down, she had it towed by [redacted] to Sorel's Garage. My inspection discovered that the timing belt broke. This is an interference motor meaning that if the timing belt breaks the valves and pistons hit each other and damage the motor. A scope check through the cylinders confirmed this, so for [redacted] to say that she did not need a motor is not true. Next I told her that it needed a motor, suggested a used motor, gave her an estimate of about [redacted] and not [redacted] Again [redacted] did not tell the truth! It was her decision that she did not want to spend the money, I never told her it was not worth it. I would not have given her an estimate to repair it if it could not be fixed.I also told her I could help her sell the car to the junk yard. This vehicle was a 2002 Kia Rio, had body damage and rotted out on the side and under the vehicle, plus had a blown motor. The junk yard would only give [redacted] Next [redacted] called me up and told me she or a friend of hers had found someone who would give her [redacted] for the vehicle. Someone did come down and look at the car, someone that she sent down. Why did this person not buy the car for [redacted]After this, she asked again if I could help her sell the car to the junk yard. instead I gave her [redacted] and she gave me back [redacted] for checking out the car. A couple of months later someone did look at the car and bought it. We did not fix the car up and sell it!! The person who bought the car asked if we would install a used motor in it and we did. Then It also needed brake lines repaired and also an electric fan for the radiator. After the final repair he had spent over [redacted] Was it worth putting that money into it? I would not have, but it was not my decision. Just like it was [redacted]'s decision not to fix the car, not mine. Also [redacted]'s estimate was under [redacted] not [redacted], TELL THE TRUTH!So in conclusion, I don't scam people, I don't give people a song and a dance and I don't take advantageof people. My suggestion to [redacted] is if you want help from somebody, TELL THE TRUTH! That would be most appropriate. [redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I have read their response, and most of it is lies, I have no reason to lie, didn't get anything out of this from lying. I just want this posted on Revdex.com's web site, so people can see how they do business. Mr. [redacted] claims a man walked into his garage and said gee I want that kia rio, put an engine in it and I'll buy it..if it would of only cost me $[redacted] I would of had it fixed...LIES, LIES...when I see that man who bought it I will find out about it. I spent more on the car I bought, then he claims was spent on the kia...I am a Christian and God will handle Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] I want you to know that word of mouth and the internet are powerful tools...I will warn people about you garage....If the Revdex.com doesn't post your business then I will take care of it. Like I said GOD, word of mouth and the internet are powerful tools......Final Consumer Response Their were no written estimates, only verbal and that it would cost at least [redacted] for an engine I don't know if that included labor. All I know is that he kept talking me out of getting it fixed....The car only had 85000 miles on it. He said it had body rust underneath that is not true...if it was such junk according to Mr. [redacted], they sold it, and I don't believe someone goes in their and says I want that car, put an engine in it and I will buy it...I just can't believe I was taken by them.....I just want the right thing done.....Thanks [redacted]
