We did in fact agree to add the flashing and are still willing to add the flashing.  The complaint is from someone who never actually hired us to do any work and is therefore not a legitimate complaint.  The project manager received the call from the person making the complaint while...

he was on vacation and said he would follow up after he returned.  He forgot to do so.  The person making the complaint never called the office and never asked to speak with a supervisor or the manager.  We do our best to make sure things like this do not happen and when they do we make every effort to correct the issue.  The general manager for SOS Builders tried to call the person making the complaint but was unable to leave a message because their mailbox was full.  He also sent and email and is waiting for a response.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Hi All, I don't have time for any of this but still taking the time to share my very bad experience with SOS builders, LLC. So you can imagine the frustration I am in. My insurance agent recommended this company for a water leakage problem at our place. The amount owed by insurance for this claim is much lesser than my deductible. I talked to Mr.Landon Mckown to see if I can take care of some of the work to reduce deductible like cleaning the construction area etc., He agreed but didn't give me anything in writing and I didn't ask for it and went with trusting them. As mentioned, we did those agreed tasks by ourselves. But when claim amount came home, it did include the money for the work we did and I have to follow up with him and his team for almost 4-5 weeks requesting an updated claim reducing the amount for which we did the work. My final follow up was an email and he responded that I have to pay my full deductible because I wouldn't have any photo of proof that we did some of the work or his team left the house without cleaning. Rather than money, the way these people operate thinking they can just promise something and get away with no delivering because there is not a physical proof just shows their work ethic. SO if you are working with SOS, better you have some written proof.

I had a water in my basement. The first technician arrived quickly, however his equipment did not work. He then called for another technician with a truck mounted unit and that equipment did not work either. Before signing any paperwork for service, I asked what I was going to cost. I was given a verbal quote of 1200-1500, but I got the bill and it was 3 times that, and had items that were not even provided during the service on the bill. The first bill I got was not itemized, just a dollar amount. We are still trying to make contact and dispute the total. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Clearly they just want to rip off insurance companies via private citizens.

You are correct, we believe the stain is to industry standard.  After you contacted a third party for a quote, we asked to meet the third party and you at the property so that we could see what the third party vendor is claiming to be substandard.  We made ourselves available, but the third party vendor refuses to meet us to discuss the issues.  The offer to meet them to hear why they feel the door does not meet industry standard still stands.  To reiterate, the door that was installed was a stain-ready door and did not require additional work before staining.  The laborer who commented that it needed to be prepped would have been correct if this were not a stain-ready door.  In regards to winning the job, you had signed a work authorization long before the project manager offered the stained door, and our offer to provide one at no additional cost to you had no impact on “winning the job.”

In summary, our offer still stands to meet the third party vendor at your residence to discuss their claim that the work does not meet industry standard.  Our offer still stands to either paint the door or credit you the amount that the insurance company paid for us to paint the door.

I would like to share my very POSITIVE experience with this company. I had a flood in my rental property and this was a very stressful event in my life for other reasons besides the flood as well. Nanette Sanchez was a god send. She was not only organized and professional but she kept ME organized as well during a time of crisis when you need someone to help take the reins so to speak. There is a lot going on during a flood in a home, you have many things on your plate and places to be and people to contact. Ms. Sanchez made that very smooth and easy for me. Her team of 'pack out' people were led by [redacted] a very professional and organized person who supervised the pack out and pack in. **. [redacted] went above and beyond to make sure that everything went smoothly and it did. His crew was very professional and very careful with my belongings and took care as if they were their own or their families. All in all I would recommend this company to anyone who is in need of this service. Well done. Thank-You!!

On December 30, 2013, SOS Builders, LLC contracted with [redacted] regarding damage to his property that was caused by a break in.  The scope of work included replacing three exterior doors, among other things.  The front door is the door in question. It was originally...

painted.

All of the work being performed was being covered by the owner’s insurance.  While walking the project with the home owner, our  project manager mentioned that he thought a stained door would look nice and asked if the owner liked that idea, since we could stain the door for the same price as we would charge to paint it. The homeowner agreed.

After the first stain was applied, the middle strip of wood was a different shade than the rest of the door.  Our company went back and fixed the stain so that it now matches the rest of the wood.  We believe that the stain meets or exceeds industry standards. Photos are attached.  However, because Mr. [redacted] is not satisfied with the stain, we have offered to paint the door instead.  We also offered to credit Mr. [redacted] for the amount in the estimate that we were paid to paint his door.  Mr. [redacted] is not satisfied with our offer and instead is demanding that we pay another contractor to re-stain the door, even though the other contractor’s price is far more than what our company was paid to stain the door in the first place.

In summary, our work meets or exceeds industry standards, as shown in the attached picture and as confirmed during site inspections. Nevertheless, in an effort to satisfy our customer, we offered Mr. [redacted] a full credit for every dollar we were paid, which would allow him to do whatever he wished to do with his door. But instead, he has made the unreasonable and unwarranted demand that we pay another company their retail price to “fix” a problem that does not exist.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I understand that SOS / Emergency Restoration believes they have provided a good stain on the door. It is correct, they offered to paint the door or a credit of $55. I rejected both offers and stand firm that the stain was not to industry standards. This has been confirmed by a third party that the finish is subpar. Not only is it obvious from a few feet away but on close inspection you can actually see areas that didn't take any stain at all.  I will restate that one of the laborers from SOS actually suggested during instal that the door should be lightly sanded and sealed prior to staining. That suggestion was rejected by the supervisor on site and the stain was applied without any cleaning. contractor should have never offered the stain if they were not capable of provided a superior finish. I believe it was offered so that they could win the job. Their tradesmen may be capable of many things, but staining is not one of them. I have provided my own picture of the stained door for your review.
