South Bay Drive-In Reviews (2)

Review: I grew up in San Diego and I've been going to this drive in for over 20 years. I took my family on Saturday and was very dissatisfied with the service that I received from the people there, mainly the security guard that walks around and the way that he speaks to customers. We arrived pretty early and parked our SUV on the 3rd row, there aren't any markings on the blacktop that say anything about car sizes allowed. This security guard (older Hispanic male) came around and said we had to move back a row, SUVs should only park 4th row and back and "you need to move asap or we'll come move you when the movie starts, I don't care what time it is or how many kids you have". We went ahead and moved back but noticed that he allowed other SUVs to stay on that row, the security guard then walked. Once he walked away other larger SUVs started arriving and all parking on the third row and even second row. Later on we tried switching screens (like we've always been able to do) and even though there was yellow tape and cones up since we noticed he was letting people through to watch the next movie we went ahead behind a car, he put the tape up and says "hey where do you think you're going", we said to watch the next movie and he said "sorry, I cannot let you through". He said that there were new rules that were put in place and you can only switch from a certain screen to another... we asked when these rules were put in to place and we explained that we grew up going to that drive in and go there at least once every other month. He said they've been in place for years, we disagreed. Then he said "well if you spoke to me pretty then I'd let you through but if you're disagreeing with me then sorry"...Desired Settlement: Speak to personnel about being more professional, have rules in writing (on signs), mark parking spaces with vehicle size permitted (or put up signs with rules) and enforce rules on all customers not just some. Tell customers about screen switching changes and enforce for all customers not just some.

Review: I went to the Drive in with my kids to watch despicable me II we got to the drive in and we waited as normal, when we tried to look for parking the place was over booked and cars and truck were parked as they pleased as I was trying to go out thru one of the lanes a truck was blocking the lane and I was stuck without being able to drive thru , I asked the guy driving the truck to move so I can go thru and he refused, I then went to look for security/traffic controller and she stated she was the only one working that night and she will be over to assist me in getting out of the situation. 20 minutes later I went back to security and explained to her that I need to move my van and that I was going to get a refund being that I was not able to get parking, security did not cooperate with my I was stuck and it was unsafe as I was not able to exit make in this a fire hazard after being stuck already for over 30 minutes and 2 walks to security I eventually was able to get out of the lane and cars were blocking exits and lanes. I requested to speak to manager, after manager made me wait another 30 minutes as I was trying to explained he interrupted me and stated he was going to give me my money back I asked him to hear my complain as I was stuck do to no security or traffic officer on duty making this place a danger to the customer. Manager stated for me to leave the premises and I continue to explain that this is unsafe and it could be fire hazard. Manager got upset and stated eh was going to call police if I didn’t get out of the property I explained to him that he had not yet given me my refund and that I paid my tickets there for I have a right to be here , he called police and I said I would wait because this is a fire hazard and I needed to report it, 25 minutes alter cops came and as I was explaining to police my situation he sent his workers to the lane that I was at to move all cars and truck that where blocking lanes and exits. after police talked to me I asked police to get me my refund.Desired Settlement: Desired Outcome:

I would like to have this place check for rules and regulation of safety, the place is over booking cars and making it unsafe for customers in case of emergency. I would also like to hear from the owner by mail as his manager on duty is not concern of customer safety but of company profit. I had been going to this drive in for years with my family and now I have stopped as it is unsafe and I want to know that company is following procedures and regulations with fire Marshalls. I would rather be turned away then have my life and the life of my family member be submitted to danger as we hear in the news over and over again of the tragedies of people trapped in public places. This is a matter of concern to the customers that like I visit these places for entertainment with our families I would like a safe place for my family to enjoy
