Upon receipt of your ring for repair it was indicated to you that we would do ‘our best’ at repairing the ‘large crack’ in ring ‘very near’ to your hallmarks.
 
As...

you know, Platinum requires the hottest level of heat and therefore the torch will cause the metal to bleed while repairing, making it impossible to obtain ‘no changes’ to or near the crack located just millimeters from your logo.
 
I can assure you that our staff and especially jeweler did his very best to repair your ring which was 74 years old showing immense wear and damaged.  You are aware that your ‘hallmarks are also 74 years old and were much worn to begin with.
 
It is only our assumption that you are trying to financially gain from your dispute.
 
You owe us $65.00 for the repair of this ring on 03/03/14 which you have charged back on your American Express.
 
We request your payment for the completed repair.

Please
advise where and when I was advised prior to handing over the ring that it was
“impossible to repair a crack without making changes” to a logo on the opposite
side of the ring. Your jeweler doing “their best” to fix a crack does not
equate to damaging a priceless ring, which he did. Moreover, the “repair” of
the crack was done poorly, leaving a thin spot on the where the “repair” was
allegedly done.
Nevertheless,
in good-faith I will be willing to take $235 ($300 less $65) to resolve this
dispute to avoid litigation costs.  
I
have requested your carrier information before and you have refused to provide
the information in good faith, which along with your lack of care, service and
baseless assumptions leads one to infer you were negligent in the handling and
care of my ring.
If
we are not able to resolve this, I will be seeking all remedies and damages
under the law.
