I was less than a year into a multi-year pre-paid membershipAfter a month, the first yearly maintence fee hit the credit card Then a few months later (about a months before they closed their doors), they charged next year's (2015) maintenance fee to my cardI did not find out they closed their doors until a couple days after it happened The barely readable email-forward that was posted in the window indicated they were building a new facility in another nearby suburb about 15-minutes away in Reynoldsburg All existing memberships were transferred to this location, but this new "South Beach Fitness" was owned by a different owner who had no ability to give any refundsI was allowed to cancel my membership at this new location without cancellation fee to prevent any further "maintenance fees" from being charged to me I had to show up in person and fill out a form to end my membership, but they also said a letter sent via certified mail would work

You get what you pay for I paid $a month, which I thought was a bargain compared to other gyms I find out after going there that the carpet is always dirty, locker room is dirty, and a lot of their machines were falling apart One of the elliptical machines needed a rubber-band to keep the handle togetherMy membership came with sessions with a personal trainerAfter showing up for my first appointment, he wasn't there That kind of set the mood for the remainder of my membership I wasn't too impressed with the trainers anyways, as I have noticed them too interested in their cell phones instead of their clientsWhen it came time to cancel my membership I submitted my request a month out from the end of my term, as is the way it says in the contract So why was I receiving emails, phone calls, and attempted credit card charges for the membership months after it ended?? Thanks to South Beach Fitness in Gahanna I had to cancel my debit card to avoid any charges, and am still waiting for my new card to arrive Good thing my wife has one at leastIf I were you and you are reading this, I would consider a different gym There are other reviews that mention similar experiences It can't be a coincidence!!

Over the past few days I've drove past the facility and it appeared to be empty Well apparently the gym moved and no notice has been given to the members Even the instructors were unaware the the gym moved Not only that but the moved to a high traffic area in Reynoldsburg, OH The only notice provided is an email posted on the door, not even in company's letterhead No one answers the phone, its' crazy

I visited the alternative store on Main Street on 10/5/2014. The desk person was marginally helpful, The current manager of that facility refused to come out and talk to me and several other people trying to get answers regarding the closed Gahanna site. The desk person was either blowing smoke and nobody was there to answer to or the manager was cowering in his office. The phone number that shows up in bank billing statements for whomever is taking the money out for memberships is a number from California a private phone number and the voice mailbox is constantly full. There is no one directly available to complain to! When I requested an alternative address to send a certified cancellation letter to, I was told they didn't have one right now.

This business has been poorly run from the get go. I was a group fitness instructor and had a very loyal class. We constantly dealt with a broken ac, improper sound equipment ( needed for Zumba!) and unsanitary surroundings. This Monday(9/28/14) I was text messaged by a personal trainer stating the business closed its doors without warning on Friday 9/25/14. We have been unpaid and not contacted by any of the ACTUAL managers. The personal trainer was a contract with the gym. I have not received info from the managers about pay or what happens to my beloved class that I have held there for 3 years. Very disappointed and concerned for the other south beach employees at different locations that may face the same in the future.
