All windshield repairs have a chance of cracking during the repair process. Hence the reason you were told that this chip needed to be drilled out, as there is a chance for...
the chip to get worse. Now as for the 1 in 1000 windshields that break(another shop's numbers).. I have not answered that claim yet but I think I should here. Every windshield chip is different and sometimes they happen to break during the repair process. If someone came to me and asked that question I would answer it like this: They are all so different that it happens. I would never start saying that one in a thousand break. That number is pulled out of a hat, and it's alway easy to say when it isn't you that worked on the windshield that broke. So that is why I wouldn't even get into telling customers numbers, I would simply answer that it happens, especially during the drilling process. Again, the reason why we came out and mentioned this to you. We normally just don't come out and explain every step of our processes if there wasn't a reason to inform the customer, like we did. I am not getting into a he said, she said debate here. I can say, that no one replaces windshields that break during the repair process and we will not either. Although you claim you could have left it, That isn't advisable either, as during the heat and cold process when it gets cold could have possibly done the same over time.
Lastly, your brother sent you in here and I was going to charge you ** for what normally we charge [redacted] for. [redacted]

I disagree and strongly feel that I should have been told about the risk of cracking and not just that you had to drill it. I had a similar chip which did not crack during repair and was told that this chip shouldn't have cracked either if it had been done right.[redacted]
