We have been working with this member to resolve her issue. We spoke to her today with no real resolution. The member will not give us the requested information needed. That thier charging a late fee because they moved the billing cycle from the first to the middle of the month so that people on a fixed income get charged extra for not being able to pay at that time.Settlement desired: Putting it back on the first of the month or the 6th of the month it would be fair.

are not received by the due date.  The addition of late fees was reviewed and discussed in response to a portion of members that do not pay their bill by the due date.  Timely bill payments are essential to the operation of the cooperative.  When members do not pay on time, cost associated with late payments must either be distributed to all members or assigned to those who incurred them.  To be fair to all our members, South Central Power began assessing a late fee on the total current bill for members that do not pay by the due date. As an option to avoid late fees, South Central Power does offer the ability for our members to take advantage of our auto pay option in which payments are automatically deducted from either a checking account or bank card on a specified date of the member’s choice.  While on the auto pay option, even if the date chosen is past the due date, a late fee will not be assessed. While we understand [redacted] desire to select an alternative due date, unfortunately this ability is not available with our current metering and computer system in operation today.  South Central Power is presently working toward the implementation and selection of a new computer and automated metering infrastructure system that will allow for flexibility.  A decision has been made on the computer system while a decision for the new metering system is anticipated before the end of this year.
