South Fork Asphalt

Review: We contracted the services of SFA in October of 2012. The main objective was to install a new asphalt driveway and a drywell for my home at [redacted]. We mailed a check for 50% payment prior to the work starting and the remaining check of 50% in November. The work was paid in full. Within 4 weeks of the job being completed we noticed that the center of driveway above the drywell had sunk into the ground due to the fact the fill around the drywell was not compacted properly. We also noticed at this time that certain areas of the driveway had not been rolled properly and therefore loose shingle was coming off. We complained to [redacted] of SFA and he agreed to repair the area around the drywell. We told him the house was rented on and off and that we needed notice of when they were coming. They never gave notice and just showed up to patch a large square above the drywell in the center of the driveway that was a different color and texture to the rest of the driveway that they had previously completed. Therefore the driveway had 2 different colors and textures and looked terrible. The issue with the stones lifting, [redacted] told us they would review the situation the following Summer to reassess and make a determination then as to what they would need to do and that fell under the terms of their warranty. Fast forward to the Summer of 2013, [redacted] came out again to review the loose stones and the patchwork in the middle of the driveway. I wanted my driveway replaced but they refused, they agreed to a commercial grade seal coat in the end with a 2 year warranty. As the house was a rental we gave them various dates that the work could be completed, September [redacted] & [redacted], September [redacted] & [redacted], October [redacted] they were unable to make any of these dates and could not commit to any date for us to complete the work. In the end [redacted] asked [redacted] if he knew of anyone else that could complete the work. We enlisted the help of Integrity Landscape and they completed the seal coat within 2 days. We had the job completed and forwarded the invoice to [redacted] to be paid in the amount of $941.24. We received a check today from SFA after an enormous struggle from start to finish, emailing, calling with no response for a year. The check we received was for $400.00 and a note from SFA stating that $400.00 is all that they would pay to have this work done. They also said that their warranty was now void as they did not think the work was up to their standard. The lack of professionalism from SFA in this past year was just horrendous and we believe that [redacted] purposely wanted us to have someone else complete the work so he could void their warranty. They should at the very least pay for the work in full, an additional check of $541.24 should be paid for the work that they should have completed but just did not want to. I had to pay another company to do what should have been repaired by SFA as I paid them in full at the beginning. I fell that SFA area terrible company and they should be reviewed by a government body on their work ethic!Desired Settlement: We want the balance of what we paid in the amount of $541.24 paid to us in order to satisfy this complaint.
