South Hills Car Store Reviews (%countItem)

I purchased a used car through Car Hop. I was advised by the South Hills Car Store that I needed a new transmission, which was covered by Car Hop, along with the replacement of all brakes, brake line and tie rods. The South Hills Car Store had my car for 2 and a half months. I gave it to them in June 2018 and picked it up in August of 2018. Jason, from The Car Store, stated they would not replace the transmission until I paid them $763.00 for repairs that I was responsible for. I agreed to their terms and was advised at the end of June that my car would be done that Wednesday by the end of day. I contacted the South Hills Car Store to pick my car up and Jason advised that they still hadn't received the OK to put a new transmission in the car from Car Hop. After numerous phone calls to Car Hop I was finally able to get the approval sent to the garage. Jason from The Car Store then advised on July 2, 2018 that the mechanic who puts the transmissions in for them would be on vacation until after the 4th of July and advised that my car would be done by the end of that week. Low and behold my car STILL was not done. After being lied to repeatedly by the Car Store about the status of my car and then arguing with Car Hop, I was told my car was complete and I picked it up 8/24/18. My car made it a block from the garage before it died. My car needed a towed back around the corner to The Car Store to have a new battery placed in it. I went back to pick up my car to hear there was a hole in my muffler. I did not give them my car with a hole in my muffler so Car Hop agreed to have it looked at by another contracted mechanic with Meineke on Route 60. The mechanic from Meineke looked at my car and said it literally looked like someone drove over something and scraped the muffler off the ground. He then told me that he reviewed the repairs that were done by the Car Store and confirmed that only half the work listed was completed. He advised the statement showed my tie rods were repaired when in fact they werent

South Hills Car Store Response • Oct 17, 2018

Letter response Date: 10/11/2018 To whom it may concern:In response to Mrs., the issue at hand should not be directed toward our company. We are not affiliated with Carhop, we simply do service work for them when asked. We received Mrs. vehicle from her and was asked to check vehicle for transmissions issues along with several PA inspection item issues. We notified customer, and Carhop, what vehicle would need to pass inspection along with needing a transmission. Carhop warranty did not approve any work (transmission) on customers vehicle until customer made necessary repairs for vehicle to be safe on the road again. We gave customer estimate of repairs which totaled $763.00. Customer did not have funds to complete work at that time so she asked us to give her time save the money. We were then notified by lot manager from Carhop that customer decided she was going to return (voluntary repossess) the vehicle back to Carhop. A few weeks later customer and Carhop worked-out a plan for customer to be able to keep the car. While this was going on we (South Hills Car Store) stored this vehicle on our property for almost 2 months until customer was able to pay us for the inspection repairs we completed on the vehicle. She paid us on 08/24/18. We then told customer she would have to bring vehicle back another day for the transmission to be completed. After we received her payment we notified Carhop she made the full payment to us and they approved us to move forward for the warranty transmission.Customer is upset that her transmission was not already installed the day of payment but that is out of our control. We can only complete work that the warranty company approves and it was not approved until her day of payment.
